Chris Christie regrets endorsing former president Donald Trump in 2016.
In his desperate attempt to gain footing in his 2024 presidential candidacy, Christie released a campaign ad, talking directly to the camera and said, “Eight years ago when I decided to endorse Donald Trump for president, I did it because he was winning, and I did it because I thought I could make him a better candidate and a better president.”
“Well, I was wrong. I made a mistake.”
He also told critics who advised him to drop out that, “this notion shouldn’t be acceptable to voters.”
Christie is only at 3.8 percent in national polls on the Republican primary nomination. Trump maintains his lead by a wide margin, with an average of 61.8 percent based on a recent survey by FiveThirtyEight.

He had been a vocal critic of Trump since their fallout in 2016. He repeatedly attacks the GOP leader, calling him “self-centered” and a “loser.” He also shames rivals – South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy for not being critical of Trump.
The former New Jersey governor also sounded alarm on voters as they were “confronted with the very same choice again.”
As with other candidates (both Republican and Democrats), Christie resorted to fear-mongering instead of presenting actual platforms on how to uplift the lives of the American people.
He went on saying, “Well, Joe Biden has had the wrong policies, and Donald Trump would sell the soul of this country. Neither choice is acceptable to me, and it shouldn’t be acceptable to you.”
The former New Jersey governor also declared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that “[anyone who] expects him to drop out of the race is crazy.”
Since last year, Republicans have been demanding Christie to drop out of the race, including New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu.
Sununu called Christie’s bid to be “at an absolute dead end.”
Before his “I Have An Admission To Make Video” Christie claims, “I’m the only one saying Donald Trump is a liar.”
In the ad, he also insinuates that “every Republican leader, ” privately criticizes Trump, but “[he] is the only one saying it in public.”
He also challenged New Hampshire to choose the president that they wanted.
“What kind of President do we want?”
“A liar or someone who’s got the guts to tell the truth?”
“New Hampshire, It’s up to you.”
In another video ad last year, he also claimed to “be the only one who can beat Trump.” However, polls seem to reflect he’s trailing behind the former president big time.
Walking back memory lane, Christie was once a prominent Republican leader. He also briefly led Trump’s 2016 transition but was cut short because of his involvement in the Bridgegate scandal and how he filled his team with a ‘bunch of lobbyists,’ whom Trump campaigned against.
