The Chinese Communist Party-owned and controlled news media outlet, Global Times, has issued a warning to the billionaire CEO Elon Musk over his support for the Chinese lab leak story about the origins of the COVID-19 virus.
Through a series of tweets, Musk showed his support for the Wuhan lab leak story after a report by the U.S. Energy Department claimed that the COVID-19 virus originated in a Chinese lab in the city of Wuhan.
The Global Times argued that the tech billionaire was “breaking the pot of China,” which roughly translates to “biting the hand that feeds you.”
The outlet also added that the tech billionaire owned Tesla:
“has an expansive factory campus in Shanghai, and China is the electric vehicle manufacturer’s second largest market.”
The outlet pointed out that Musk’s support for the Wuhan lab leak theory is hostile and defamatory towards China.
The publication also claimed that they were alarming Musk over his China-linked tweets and blasted him as well for hurting potential investment coming toward China.
The outlet noted:
“This warning comes as Chinese officials, both on a high level as well as on a lower level of the government are really to pulling out all the stops and try to attract U.S. investment into China. The directive has come all the way from the top, President Xi Jinping, who has been saying that there should be greater effort to attract more and welcome more foreign capital as well as more foreign investment.”
Musk was in the headlines on the weekend for accusing the former Chief Medical Advisor, Anthony Fauci, of providing funding to the Wuhan lab.
