Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, was called out by Kayleigh McEnany for claiming that the Biden administration has done more to secure the border than previous President Trump.
Kayleigh McEnany shot back at Karine Jean-Pierre after claiming that Joe Biden has done more to secure the border than Donald Trump.
“I’m going to quote someone who has a way with words,” McEnany said. “And it’s my former colleague, Stephen Miller, who to that point said this. Human vocabulary is inadequate to convey the volcanic Vesuvian magnitude of her lie.”
“And I don’t use that word lightly, but I use it here because to say that you have done more to secure the border, the natural follow-up is what have you done Joe Biden? You left as a rotting pile border supplies that should have been used to build the wall.”
McEnany continued, “Under your watch, the border was left unsecured. Children were put in cages. They were separated from their parents. And there was a surge of illegal immigrants coming into our country because they knew that you had an open border policy.”
Jean-Pierre attempted to interrupt, but McEnany continued, “You talk about doing more. I’ll tell you what Joe Biden did. In his first 100 days, he released over 19,000 illegal immigrants into our communities.”
McEnany concluded by saying that the Biden administration has “done nothing” to secure the border and that they are “releasing criminal illegal aliens back into our communities.”
“They are refusing to build the wall,” she said. “And they are putting Americans last.”
“You’re a blue-collar worker. You hit the nail on the head. Imagine how you feel. Okay, let’s say you didn’t go to college, right? You’re working a hard, blue-collar factory job, and didn’t go to college.”
“You see somebody who came here illegally getting free college, getting in-state tuition, getting all sorts of government benefits. You might say to yourself, ‘What the heck? I’m paying for my kids’ college. Why are they getting it for free?'”
Karine Jean-Pierre, a senior adviser for MoveOn.org, claimed on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House” Wednesday that former Vice President Joe Biden has done more for border security than President Donald Trump.
“The reality is, is that the Obama-Biden administration, they were the ones who put in place a lot of what the Trump administration is using right now,” Jean-Pierre said. “It was the Obama-Biden administration that put in place family detention centers. It was the Obama-Biden administration that increased deportations.”
“The reality is also, though, under the Trump administration, what we have seen is an increase in children being separated from their parents,” she continued. “We have seen an increase in the cruelty at the border. That is something that is new under this administration, and that is something we have to pay attention to.”
McEnany responded by saying, “What’s cruel is coming into this country illegally and leaving your child behind with a coyote, putting their lives in danger, subjecting them to rape, torture, and murder.
“That’s cruel. What this president is doing is stopping the flow of drugs, stopping MS-13 from coming in, and that’s why his policies are working,” she concluded. “The numbers show it, and the child separations were started under President Obama.”
It remains unclear what the end of the Biden administration may look like in terms of border security.
