Media FREAKS after FBI says it got more than 4500 BOGUS tips on Kavanaugh during 2018 investigation

A subgroup of Democratic senators are looking for answers when they were told details regarding an investigation on Brett Kavanaugh.

In 2018, Brett Kavanaugh was accused on many accounts of sexual assault after being appointed to the Supreme Court by former President Donald Trump. He was found not guilty at the time. The FBI shared details regarding that case and the investigation backing it. On June 30th, Jill Tyson, an assistant director of the FBI, shared that they had received 4,500 tips regarding Kavanaugh (Business Insider). They turned the “relevant tips” over to the White House counsel, who at the time was Don McGahn.

Tyson also mentions that Kavanaugh’s nomination was the first time the FBI set up a tip line for a nominee undergoing Senate confirmation (CNN), going into detail on how the tips included phone calls and electronic submissions. That letter was publicly released this month, whereas it was a response to a letter they had received in 2019, having to do with answers about that investigation.

“This long-delayed answer confirms how badly we were spun by Director Wray and the FBI in the Kavanaugh background investigation and hearing,” Whitehouse said on Twitter, referring to FBI Director Chris Wray. “It confirms my suspicions that the ‘tip line’ was not real and that FBI tip line procedures were not followed,” he added (Business Insider). This group of democrats have expressed their anger over the misrepresentation on behalf of the hotline, angrily stating that the FBI should not even have a tip line if they are not going to use it or follow up on those tips.
