Former Olympian Caitlyn “Bruce” Jenner expressed support for a recent NY county policy that bars female sports teams with transwomen from using county-owned facilities.
This ruling will be imposed on more than 100 athletic facilities in New York City’s Long Island suburbs.
Jenner, along with Nassau County’s Executive Bruce Blakeman (R), made her statement in a press conference held at Blakeman’s office in Mineola.
For the transgender Olympia, allowing transgender athletes like herself to compete against biological women will “ruin women’s sports” for years to come.
“Trans women are competing against women, taking valuable opportunities for the long-protected class under Title IX, and causing physical harm.”
“Let’s stop it now while we can,” pressed Jenner.
Jenner revealed in 2015 that he identifies as a woman and has undergone gender confirmation surgery.
An LGBT advocacy group in Long Island did not agree with Jenner and described his remarks as a “baffling contradiction.”
The Olympian added, “The difference between men and women exists based on DNA, or your chromosomes…there are massive advantages and undeniable differences from male development, basically going through male puberty.”
For Jenner, in terms of athletics, one must compete in one’s biological sex.
“This is critical to protect the integrity of competition in women’s sports.”
The New York Civil Liberties Union sued Nassau County and Blakeman, as they claim that the ban discriminates against trans athletes.
State Attorney General Letitia James also claimed the ban was “transphobic.”
Jenner lashed out at James and President Joe Biden, saying that the two violated the rights of women.
“In New York, we have an activist Attorney General, Letitia James, that alleges and seems to think that state laws and preferences supersede federal law, specifically Title IX and the 14th Amendment of the US the Constitution, which guarantees no state shall deny a person equal protection under the law,” Jenner said.
Last month, Blakeman announced an executive order prohibiting female sports teams and leagues from using Nassau County’s 100 ballfields and athletic facilities unless they vowed to keep their transwomen players out.
“There is too much bullying going on of biological males trying to inject themselves in women and female sports and we will not tolerate that in Nassau County,” Blakeman said.
This order applies only to female competitive sports, not to athletic competitions where biological females want to compete against males.
“We are protecting girls’ right to compete against other girls.”
“It makes no sense for biological boys who identify as transgender to compete against girls. It’s completely unfair,” expressed the Republican executive in an interview with the Post.
“Biological boys are faster, bigger and stronger. They have a physical advantage against women.”
