Republican congressional candidate in New York, Carl Paladino, is going to file a lawsuit against Governor Kathy Hochul and the state legislature to stop a new gun law.

He says this gun law is “twice as bad” as the one the U.S. Supreme Court struck down.
“While New Yorkers were celebrating Independence Day, Hochul and Albany Democrats decided to undermine your freedom, attacking your Second Amendment rights once again. While crime skyrockets out of control in New York State, Democrats have decided to demoralize the police, and let dangerous criminals out of jail, many of whom have obtained firearms illegally. I will not tolerate this,” he said in a public statement.
“I am going to sue Hochul and the far-left Democrats in the New York Legislature on behalf of the people of Western New York and the Southern Tier. I have retained legal counsel and we are currently exploring a multitude of options that will expose this tyrannical power grab from Albany for what it is: a stain on our Constitution. I will always defend the Second Amendment rights of all New Yorkers,” Paladino added.
The law bans gun owners from having a firearm in a list of “sensitive” locations like schools, concerts, churches, libraries, and protests.
The law will also require people who apply for firearm licenses to offer four character references and list their social media accounts from the past three years.
Paladino said, “Can you imagine how the licensing entity could possibly investigate all that for the millions of gun owners that we have in the state of New York? Can you imagine the actual implementation of such ridiculousness? And they want you to disclose who your family members are. And they basically want to deprive you of your First Amendment right to free speech.”
Paladino mentioned that after the Supreme Court declared New York’s former gun law unconstitutional, the Democrats “came back with a vengeance and passed a law that’s twice as bad as the original law.”
In response to the ruling from the Supreme Court, the state legislature called an unexpected session to pass the anti-2 Amendment bill. Kathy Hochul signed it into law on July 1.
The Raging Patriot previously reported on the SCOTUS ruling:
The U.S. Supreme Court has struck down a restrictive New York handgun permitting law, delivering a major win for the Second Amendment and gun rights.
It was recently reported by ConservativeBrief that in a 6-3 ruling, the nation’s highest court struck down New York’s gun-control law that required people to show “proper cause” to get a license to carry a concealed handgun outside the home.
Justice Clarence Thomas said the court is holding “that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.”
In this case, Thomas explains that nothing in the Second Amendment distinguishes between home and public “with respect to the right to keep and bear arms.”
