Less than two weeks after President Joe Biden announced his bid for re-election, his approval rating dropped six percentage points from February to May.
The Washington Post-ABC News poll puts Biden’s approval at 36% with 56% of respondents saying they disapprove of the job the president is doing.
The number of Americans who strongly approve of Biden’s work stayed the same, at 18%, but the number of people who strongly disapprove rose to 47%.
According to NBC News:
[Biden’s] approval rating among those under 30 years old stood at 26%.
54% of adults said former President Donald Trump handled the economy better during his presidency than Biden is now (36% chose Biden).
While a majority of adults said Trump is mentally sharp and physically healthy enough to serve as president, just a third said the same about Biden.
And 44% said they’d “definitely” or “probably” choose Trump in a hypothetical 2024 general election matchup against Biden, who got support from 38% (that lead is within the poll’s margin of error, and critically, 18% of respondents said they were undecided or supporting someone else).
Dan Bongino pointed out on his podcast today that even the mainstream media is reporting on Biden’s lowest approval rating yet and the lowest ever for a first-term president.
The report also highlights that the president’s poll numbers show that he’s behind the top Republican contenders in a 2024 matchup.
The news gets worse for President Biden as a Red State article reports the president’s “most loyal voting bloc,” black Americans, are turning away from the president.
A recent poll conducted by ABC News and the Washington Post has revealed a significant decline in support for Biden among black Americans.
The survey indicated that only 52% of black respondents approved of Biden’s performance as president, a sharp decline from the 82% approval rating he enjoyed when he took office in 2021.
This 30-point drop in support represents the lowest point of Biden’s presidency and comes as he prepares for his reelection campaign.
The survey also highlighted an increase in support for former President Donald Trump among black Americans, with 27 percent of respondents indicating a likelihood of voting for him or leaning toward him, more than double the support he received in the 2020 election.
Support from Hispanics is also on the decline. “Only 40 percent of Hispanics expressed approval of Biden’s performance, and 43 percent stated they would probably or definitely support Trump in a rematch or lean toward him.”
President Biden sat down for an interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, the first one since announcing that he was running for re-election.
She asked him to explain why he, an 82-year-old, is the right person for the job of president.
“I’ve acquired a hell of a lot of wisdom and know more than the vast majority of people,” he responded.
“I’m more experienced than anybody who has ever run for the office. And I think I’ve proven myself to be honorable as well as effective.”
While many of us might not be sure if serving in Congress for decades makes him more experienced, we do know that the president is neither honorable nor effective from where we stand.
