Ohio GOP Senator J.D. Vance distributed a memo to Senate GOP offices on Monday exposing that the recent foreign aid bill put forward by the senators could endanger Trump if he was elected into office next year if he opted to stop funding Ukraine.
According to Vance, tucked inside one of the provisions of the legislation is an “impeachment time bomb” for the upcoming Trump reelection.
The GOP lawmaker highlighted that the bill would effectively provide aid to Ukraine through September 30, 2025, almost a year into Trump’s possible second presidential term.
“The bill includes $1.6 billion for foreign military financing in Ukraine, and $13.7 billion for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. These funds expire on September 30, 2025—nearly a year into the possible second term of President Trump,” Vance noted in his memo.
He added, “The false argument put forward by Democrats was/is as follows: as President Trump had allegedly paused these funds because he wished to see the corrupt nexus between the Biden family and Ukraine investigated, President Trump had abused his power, with the aim of interfering with the U.S. presidential election.”
Vance explained that if President Trump attempted to withdraw or pause the financial aid, “to bring the conflict to a peaceful conclusion,” it would equate to the same fake violation of budget law brought against him on the first impeachment, under markedly similar facts and circumstances.
Furthermore, Vance hit partisan democrats who are preying on every opportunity to impeach Trump again. “The Washington Post has reported that tying President Trump’s hands on foreign policy is very much top of mind for Biden administration officials.”
“The supplemental represents an attempt by the foreign policy blob/deep state to stop President Trump from pursuing his desired policy, and if he does so anyways, to provide grounds to impeach him and undermine his administration. All Republicans should oppose its passage,” Vance concluded in his memo.
In 2019, the former Democratic House majority moved to impeach Trump for his decision to withhold funding allocated for Ukraine and pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to conduct a probe against Joe Biden. The Senate later acquitted Trump.
In his recent pronouncements, Trump had been straightforward in his remarks against the bill and called on GOP lawmakers to turn down the foreign aid bill. However, the Senate is already on track to vote for the legislation, while the House has yet to approve it.
