Bonnie Nichols, the wife of U.S. Marine Corps veteran Ryan Nichols, shared the absolutely heart-wrenching story of how the government has treated her husband, after being imprisoned for protesting on Jan. 6.
Her husband has been held in a Washington D.C. jail for nearly 600 days, has been denied the right to a speedy trial, and has also been tortured in solitary confinement for protesting election fraud peacefully on Jan. 6, 2021.
She shares her story in a five-minute video, shown below.
Her husband has been held in solitary confinement for about 19 months. She described her phone calls with him since she is not allowed to see him. She said he has PTSD and that they torture him for his political views.
Ryan Nichols shared about the horrors he has endured behind bars on a GiveSendGo account set up to raise money for legal fees.
“I own a Non-Profit Organization called “Rescue The Universe” that focuses on Hurricane, Tornado, and Flooding Search And Rescue. We work directly with Law Enforcement, Emergency Crews, and even Military during these rescues. Our rescue efforts, often funded with our own money, have helped save WELL OVER 150+ people in over the last 4 years,” he wrote.
“We have helped feed, clothe, and save communities, and want to continue doing that in the future when this is over,” he added. “Right now, my main focus is getting home to my wife and children, and navigating this legal situation to the best of my ability. I deeply appreciate any and every bit of support we are offered, and look forward to moving forward from this nightmare.”
Big League Politics reported on the torture the Jan. 6 defendants have had to endure:
A defense attorney for a Jan. 6 defendant has compared the treatment of his client to Soviet Russia and claimed he has “never seen such a blatant disregard for inmates’ rights.”
The DC Jail is more reminiscent of Solzhenitsyn’s ‘One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich’ than it is of any remotely acceptable penal institution,” the attorney wrote in a filing.
The defense attorney noted that the DC Jail has made it incredibly difficult for him to perform his duties as these Soviet-style show trials are initiated by the regime.
“I have practiced criminal defense as an attorney throughout this entire country and have never seen such a blatant disregard for inmates’ rights as I have seen from this DC Jail. The countless hours I fought through DC Jail bureaucracy simply to be told how I could forward Discovery to my client was nothing more than a veiled attempt to thwart and discourage inmates from receiving the proofs in their own cases,” the attorney wrote.
It has been about 21 months since January 6, 2021. The fact that men and women are still in prison for peacefully protesting should alarm every single American.
In the words of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, “The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world.”
