Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called out the Washington establishment.
On Wednesday during an event in Seminole County, Florida, DeSantis shared a harsh critique directly at the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, Dr. Anthony Fauci.
“Someone needs to grab that little elf and chuck him across the Potomac.”
“You have people like Fauci saying that his lockdowns didn’t cause any permanent damage to any young kids.”
“I got news for you, it did.”
DeSantis also added, “And I’m just sick of seeing him. I know he says he’s going to retire, someone needs to grab that little elf and chuck him across the Potomac.”
DeSantis made a point very clear at the rally. He said that if Floridians were forced to put up with the Fauci-led mandates for COVID-19, the effects could have been damaging. But, because DeSantis kept Florida free, most people escaped the insanity.
DeSantis said, “If it was up to him, your kids would not have been able to go to school in 2020, some of you would have lost your business or your jobs and so we made sure to choose freedom over Fauci-ism.”
“We were not going to let this state descend into some type of Faucian dystopia, not on my watch. That was not going to happen.”
Evidence is suggesting that the government-led lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic created several issues.
An analysis of 24 studies suggested that “lockdowns have had little to no effect on COVID-19 mortality.”
The researchers wrote: “We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality.”
“They have contributed to reducing economic activity, reducing schooling, raising unemployment, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence and undermining liberal democracy.”
“These costs to society must be compared to the benefits of lockdowns, which our meta-analysis has shown are marginal at best. Such a standard benefit-cost calculation leads to a strong conclusion: Lockdowns should be rejected out of hand as a pandemic policy instrument.”
DeSantis is up for re-election in November. His opponent is Rep, Charlie Crist, who beat Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried.
Crist used to be registered as a Republican when he served one term as governor of Florida.
But, that didn’t deter Democrat voters.
Politico reported:
Fried, Florida’s only statewide elected Democrat, spent months hammering Crist for his past positions on abortion, criminal justice reform, and the appointment of Florida Supreme Court justices when he was a registered Republican and served one term as governor.
Her attacks, though, never really broke through with Democrats, and the 66-year-old Crist piled up endorsements from prominent Democrats as the party coalesced around him rather than 44-year-old Fried, who has only served in elected office since 2018 and was trying to become Florida’s first female governor. Her campaign slogan and prominent social media hashtag was “#SomethingNew.”
Crist and DeSantis will face off in the general election in November.
