Texas Governor Greg Abbott went on record asking Dominion Voting Systems to explain if, as reported, the company played a role in the cancellation of Fox News host Tucker Carlsons’ primetime show.
Fox News and Carlson “parted ways” last month despite Carlson being the network’s most popular primetime host. The announcement came just days after Fox News reached a settlement with Dominion over its claims that the news network defamed the company by “spreading election lies” about the 2020 presidential election.
“If the public reporting is accurate that Dominion Voting Systems demanded that Tucker Carlson be fired as part of a litigation settlement, then I am happy that Dominion does not operate in Texas, and I don’t think that they should do so in the future,” Abbott tweeted Saturday.
“We may disagree with other’s positions, but we should never try to improperly silence views contrary to our own.”
The governor warned that if Dominion “wants to do business with Texas in the future, they should first answer questions about what role, if any, they played in silencing a prominent conservative journalist. The answers to those questions, and other factors, should guide whether we want them to operate here.”
It’s time for companies to remain non-partisan especially if involved in elections in the manner in which Dominion is. How can Americans have any confidence in the election process if the voting machine company wants to silence opinions it does not like?
Abbott attached a link to an Axios story that said according to two sources, Carlson received word from a Fox board member that his show was taken off the air as part of the Dominion settlement.
A letter from Tucker’s lawyers to Fox News states:
“Carlson was told by a member of the Fox board that he was taken off the air as part of the Dominion settlement, two sources briefed on the conversation told Axios.”
“Dominion did not insist on them [Fox News] firing Tucker Carlson as part of the settlement,” said Dominion lawyer Stephen Shackelford when Axios questioned him on the accusations.
Shackelford did surmise that Fox News parted ways with Carlson as a result of the lawsuit, however.
“But the very fact that that’s what resulted out of all of this, and it’s traceable from the work that Dominion and Staple Street set in motion … of course, I know what’s in the redacted stuff, and I can’t say anything about it. I hope that it all gets un-redacted at some point.”
Dominion has denied the claim to two other news outlets as well. Spokeswoman Claire Bischoff previously told Newsmax that, “Dominion has been on the record clearly stating that canceling Carlson’s show was not part of the settlement agreement.”
A Dominion spokeswoman also told Newsweek that Carlson’s show cancellation “was [not] part of the settlement agreement and any claims otherwise are false.”
Carlson made an announcement via Twitter about where his faithful viewers can find him in the near future.
“Starting soon, we’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter,” he said in a tweeted video.
“We’ll bring some other things, too, which we’ll tell you about. But for now we’re just grateful to be here.”

abbott is an idiot
Yup, its gone so silly it hurts.
Some fundamentals first, and it should be in the back of any sane reasonable persons head and hammering, that if it is attached to the wall, anything, anywhere, thru whatever, its hackable.
Then, we can debate by whom and how, I dont even care, because its hackable, it can never be safe, its a fact.
Then, if anything, if not properly able to have an verifyable/legal ID, to verify the loacality of where they stay/live, then they simply cant vote, period.
And by paper ballots.
Then counted under supervision by independent observers, monitored thru head and ass as we say up here, because its just an short time frame, aka days and this should never be an issue at all, in any way, to make sure, the counting is done impecable and above all, transparent, witch neither should be an question, its a security thru the fact we all can observe the counting.
Whats the problem, this is how its done by most sane and democratic nations, but it dont always reflect change, that is something else.
peace
I’m sorry Tucker Carlson was fired because I don’t believe in Censorship. Dominion machines should not be used in any state because they have modems built into them. They are hackable & our elections are not safe. Also there is an EO first signed by Obama, then Trump, then Biden that states that no electronic machines will be allowed to be used in Federal elections that have any parts made in adversarial countries. All voting machines & tabulators have parts made in China. So legally in the 2024 Presidential Election machines are illegal in all 50 states. It’s idiotic to say Texas shouldn’t use them because of Tucker Carlson. It’s more important that they are illegal. Let’s see how many states abide by that EO. Shouldn’t the President make sure that they all do, since he extended the EO?
