Atlanta was the location of the infamous water pipe leak or urinal leak that caused counting votes on election night in 2020 to be placed on hold. There were also videos of suitcases carrying votes being dragged out from underneath tables and benches.
Regardless of which side you fall on with the integrity of the 2020 Presidential election, there were obviously major problems. The problems allowed people to question the integrity of the election. Now, there is a hearing considering criminal charges against Trump for trying to influence the outcome.
Since February 2021, Fanni Willis, the lead prosecutor for Georgia, has been looking into whether Trump violated election laws when he asked Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to find almost 12,000 votes to reverse the results in favor of the former president in the 2020 election.
Willis is a rising star in the Democrat party. Well, that was until the
Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ripped into her for some incredibly dumb actions. Willis hosted a fundraiser for Lt. Gubernatorial candidate Charlie Bailey and donated to the campaign.
Conservativebrief.com reported, “I don’t know that it’s an actual conflict, but it’s a ‘what are you thinking’ moment,” Judge McBurney said at a hearing on Thursday. “If we’re trying to maintain confidence that this investigation is pursuing facts in a non-partisan sense. That strikes me as problematic”.
Now, Judge McBurney is considering replacing her on the Trump case. Willis rose to fame in 2014 when she worked as the lead prosecutor in the Atlanta Public Schools cheating cas. She later saw 11 educators convicted for their role in a standardized test scandal that rocked a nation.
The image of Willis hosting and contributing to the campaign suggests she her support is for one candidate over another. Legally, active office holders are not allowed to announce support for either candidate. It is considered an undue influence on her position.
What happens if Willis gets removed from the case? Another D.A. is assigned the matter. It will impact the timing. There was hope to hear the case before the mid-term elections. That would no doubt affect the November elections.
Now, the case will be pushed back until after the mid-term elections. Republicans don’t care one way or the other. If the case goes forward as planned, it will be hastily put together increasing the chance for mistakes in the hearings is highly likely.
If it gets moved until after the elections, it could ultimately be impacted by who wins the elections in November. The winners could end the case or decide to prosecute in another manner.
Judge McBurney went on to say, “The concern I’m working through, is that it’s not a lower case ‘a’ appearance.
It’s like a capital ‘a’ with flashy lights fundraiser with the district attorney for the political opponent of someone I’ve named a target of my investigation where I’m the legal adviser to the grand jury and I’m on national media almost nightly talking about this investigation,” the judge said. “That’s problematic.”
