In the early morning of Monday, August 8th, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at the former President’s Mar a Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida. It was an unprecedented action by the United States Justice Department.
The FBI raid on Trump’s Mar a Largo home is politically motivated. The actual warrant was signed three days before on the 5th which means there was no exigent threat to destroy any evidence. Based on that alone, a simple subpoena would have been appropriate.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, from Georgia, has become a controversial member of Congress since being elected in 2020 and sworn in in 2021. MTG, as she is known, is now setting her sights on Attorney General Merrick Garland.
She announced that she filed articles of impeachment against Attorney General Merrick Garland a day after the Justice Department’s top official announced he personally approved the FBI raid on the Florida home of former President Donald Trump.
Officially, MTG is charging Garland with politicizing the Justice Department, and the other claims the attorney general has failed to uphold his oath of office and lost the trust of U.S. citizens to “execute the laws of the United States without partisan bias.”
“Merrick Garland has weaponized the DOJ and unleashed the FBI to target, harass, and persecute Joe Biden’s political enemies,” Mrs. Greene said. “The unprecedented raid on President Trump’s home is the type of tyrannical action that happens just before a country falls into a violent dictatorship.”
Sen. Rand Paul, a Republican from Kentucky, agrees with Green. He demanded an investigation Wednesday into the Department of Justice and the FBI over the raid on President Trump’s Florida home.
On “Fox & Friends,” Paul argued Attorney General Merrick Garland could face impeachment if an investigation finds him guilty of misusing his office. Paul made the statement two days before Green filed the Articles of Impeachment.
Of course, the mainstream media has rushed to Garland’s defense and is stating Paul is calling for impeachment with no evidence Garland misused his office. Steve Benen of the Maddow Blog came to Garland’s defense on Thursday.
Paul hasn’t presented any evidence of the attorney general misusing his office for political purposes or going after a political opponent, apparently because no such evidence exists. If they had no legitimate evidence of wrongdoing, it almost certainly couldn’t have received a court-ordered search warrant.
Paul did say that an investigation would probably not occur until after the mid-term election. The Democrats currently control Congress and any impeachment attempt would certainly fail to garner the required number of votes.
Green, however, didn’t want to wait until November to take Garland, the DOJ, and the FBI on. She knows the votes will not happen. Nobody will cross party lines and agree to impeach the embattled Attorney general.
However, she is sending a clear shot across the Democrat’s bow. Everything is indicating an overwhelming Republican victory in the November mid-terms. Unless strange things occur during the elections, Republicans will emerge in control of at least the House of Representatives.
If things play out the way they should, Garland will be on the chopping block. He will most likely resign at that point to ensure his legacy isn’t one of impeachment. His image though will forever be tarnished as the man who ordered an early dawn raid on a former President to obtain paperwork.

Garland & Wray both must be impeached, and after find that they have misused their power, immediately they must be in jail.
