After two GOP Governors, Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis exposed the hypocrisy of the left, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) dropped the hammer on the Democratic Party.
Tom said: “If Democrats are so concerned about working-class communities of color in Arizona and Texas, why should those states have to bear the entire burden of illegal immigration? Why shouldn’t California, Illinois, and New York shoulder some of that load?”
He continued: “It’s not like those states don’t have room. California has 12% of the nation’s population but only 36% of its illegal immigrants. New York has 7% of the population but only 18% of its illegal immigrants. So why should working-class communities in Arizona and Texas have to bear that burden?”
Cotton’s questions expose the rank hypocrisy of Dem leaders who care about “working-class communities of color” while doing everything they can to keep those communities burdened by illegal immigration.
It’s time for the left to put their money where their mouth is and start sharing the burden of illegal immigration equally among all states. Anything less is simply hypocritical.
Cotton continued: “The hypocrisy of these sanctimonious liberals is just incredible. Joe Biden has presided over a slow-motion invasion of our country since he took office. Almost four million illegal migrants have crossed our country.
“And there are border towns, including El Paso, as we just heard from Bill Melugin, who have thousands of illegal migrants arriving every day. Yet when a few thousand arrive in Washington, D.C., they declare a state of emergency.
“When they get to Chicago, they call up the National Guard. When 50 get to Martha’s Vineyard, the liberal media goes into a five-alarm fire.
“These communities are so hypocritical because they are not willing to bear the brunt of Joe Biden’s immigration failures.
“And remember, Joe Biden is doing the same thing. He’s transporting migrants all around the country. It’s just liberals want to decide where illegal migrants go when all the rich elite on Martha’s Vineyard don’t want them in their communities.
“So why should working-class communities in Arizona and Texas have to bear that burden?”
Cotton went on to say that the current system is not working and that something needs to be done to stop the flow of illegal migrants into the country. He called on Biden to work with Republicans to find a solution.
Tom Cotton is not happy with how the current administration handles the migrant crisis. He believes that more needs to be done to help those communities impacted the most. Hopefully, his voice will be heard and something will be done to solve this problem.
Cotton noted that these crossings are up 100% and 300% respectively, from last year.
“The border is not secure,” he concluded.
“It’s not like we don’t have a problem at the border,” he said. “We do.”
Cotton’s comments come as Democrats push for comprehensive immigration reform, which would provide a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Republicans, on the other hand, have been focused on stricter border security measures.
It’s unclear if the two sides can compromise on this issue. However, Tom Cotton is unhappy with the current state of affairs at the US-Mexico border.
