“This is long overdue”: Elise Stefanik celebrates as Gay files Resignation Amid Controversy

For House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, Harvard University President Claudine Gay’s resignation was “just the beginning of the reckoning.”

Stefanik in a statement said that “the resignation of Harvard’s antisemitic plagiarist president is long overdue.” She also pledged to conduct a cleansing of higher education’s institutional rot.

An alumna of Harvard College, Stefanik slammed the Harvard Corporation for prolonging Gay’s tenure instead of firing her immediately after the disastrous congressional hearing in December.

“Claudine Gay’s morally bankrupt answers to my questions made history as the most viewed Congressional testimony in the history of the U.S. Congress. Her answers were pathetic and devoid of the moral leadership and academic integrity required of the President of Harvard.”

“This is just the beginning of what will be the greatest scandal of any college or university in history.”

Since the congressional investigation of antisemitic incidents on Ivy League institutions last October, the chairwoman has been vocal in her call for Gay to step down.

Stefanik grilled presidents of MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard University. This led to the resignation of UPenn’s president Elizabeth Magill just four days after the hearing on antisemitism at college campuses. Meanwhile, Gay apologized for her response on the matter.

For Stefanik, Magill’s forced resignation was “only the bare minimum of what is required.”

@Harvard and @MIT, do the right thing. The world is watching.”

During the hearing, the congresswoman, repeatedly said that Gay should resign.

Gay’s “depending on the context” response to Stefanik’s inquiry led Congress to open an investigation on concerns of antisemitism in Harvard.

Rep. Elise Stefanik also posted on X, “TWO DOWN.”

Aside from the GOP Conference Chair, Speaker Mike Johnson also chimed in and said “Antisemitism has no place on campus — or anywhere in America.”

Rep. Andy Biggs also said “This is the right move. Our university leaders have gone full-on woke and harbor anti-Semitism on campuses. Many should step down.”

Like Stefanix, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-North Carolina) said

“While President Gay’s resignation is welcome news, the problems at Harvard are much larger than one leader and the committee’s oversight will continue.”

Meanwhile, billionaire and Harvard alumnus Bill Ackman reacts to Gay’s resignation on X, formerly Twitter. With a post:

“Et tu Sally?” Referencing MIT President Sally Kornbluth.

Ackman has thrown a series of criticisms against Gay and her administration in his posts on social media.

After Gay’s testimony in Congress, the billionaire took to X and challenged the Harvard president to “resign in disgrace.”

His reaction to Magill’s departure from UPenn was “‘There is hope for Penn.”

‘Now the focus turns to Presidents Gay and Kornbluth and the boards of Harvard and MIT,’ Ackman added.
