Americans are now on the move and leaving crime-infested cities in America amid rising numbers of shootings and carjackings. According to a National Sheriff’s Association/TIPP survey, many point to Joe Biden’s open-borders policy as waves of crime continue to surge, especially in Democrat-led cities.
Six in ten (61%) Americans are dissatisfied with Biden’s policies to reduce or control crime, with 32% expressing no satisfaction at all and another 29% expressing very little satisfaction.
At least 63% of respondents said that “they have reduced or stopped visiting communities with increased crime.”

Many considered relocating and choosing red states to rebuild their lives. According to U.S. Census Bureau Data in December 2022, rapid population growth was observed in known Republican States, while Democratic counterparts dropped populations.
Sam Karnick from The Heartland Institute, a right-leaning think tank, highlighted that law and order is one of the main factors behind the shift.
“Populations in Democrat-controlled states are falling because of an exodus from big cities. The reverse is happening in Republican-controlled states.”

In July 2022, Florida experienced a swift rise in population since 1957, an increase of 1.9 percent. In Texas, their population increased by 1.6 percent, while South Carolina, Arizona, and Idaho rose by 1.7 percent, 1.3 percent, and 1.8 percent respectively.
On the other hand, Democrat-led states experienced a population decline. In California, it went down by 0.3 percent, New York at 0.9 percent, Illinois by 0.8 percent and Oregon by 0.4 percent. Within California, the downturn seemed more apparent as San Francisco’s population dropped by 7.1 percent and Lassen counties by 7.5 percent.
A poll conducted by Gallup reveals at least 63 percent of Americans describe the crime concerns in the US as extremely or very serious, “up from 54% when last measured in 2021 and the highest in Gallup’s trend.”

Furthermore, around 77 percent believe there is an increase in crime in the US compared to last year, and 55 percent say the same about crime in their local area.
Florida resident Terry Gilliam, who lived on the West Coast for 35 years, told Newsweek that “law and order” was one of the main reasons he left. He now runs Facebook groups “Leaving California” and “Life After California” which now has 278,000 members.
Some members of the group shared, “Moving from Riverside to Sarasota [Florida] next week. I don’t even recognize this place anymore.”
“This state [California] has lost its way. I’m surrounded by crime and homelessness and the state cares about stupid stuff like shopping bags, straws, composting, gas stoves, equitable electric bills.”
