Wisconsin does not have a “stand your ground” law like many other states. However, the Badger State does recognize the need for a person to protect themselves and their family. It is called the Castle Doctrine.

The term Castle refers to your home, business, vehicle, or a dwelling of some kind. If a person reasonably believes their life is in danger, the State of Wisconsin gives them the option to threaten or use force against another to stop the threat.

It is important to remember that the intruder must have been in the process of breaking into your dwelling, business, or vehicle for the castle doctrine to apply. There is no duty to retreat within the state.

A Milwaukee Mom shot and killed a home intruder on Monday, August 15th. According to the unidentified woman, she was in the process of showering and getting ready for work when her 12 and 14-year-old children began screaming.

She ran to get her gun which was legally purchased ten years ago. She confronted the home intruder. The unidentified man was fighting with the family’s two pit bull dogs. Despite the dogs defending their children, the man kept coming according to tmj4.com.

The mother shot the man multiple times to stop the threat. The man was in his thirties and was acting erratically according to reports. The mother was arrested on the scene by Milwaukee Police and brought to the police station. She was later released. There are no details available at this time on any pending charges.

Neighbors rushed to the scene after the police cleared it for investigation purposes. They helped the woman clean up the house. There are currently no statements available from the children. It is common practice for police to withhold statements children make due to age.

People are upset that the police brought the mother to the station for questioning. It is standard practice to bring the person who did the shooting to the police station and get them out of where the incident occurred. Law enforcement has to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

Neighbors are calling the mother a hero. If the facts of the case confirm her story, then she is a hero for defending her children. It is not an easy decision to make even though the children’s lives are at stake.

The Hollywood elitist crowd out there will say she could have shot him in the leg to wound him. It is not that easy to do. It is not easy to shoot a large target even with no stress. Add in a life-threatening situation, and it becomes an even more difficult thing to do.

It is why law enforcement trains to shoot a double tap of rounds into the center mass of their target. The center mass is the largest target to hit on a person. They are not trying to kill. They are trying to stop the threat. If in the process of trying to stop the threat, the person dies, it is a tragic ending.

The double tap from the sidearm is done because it fires two quick rounds before the barrel and sights come off the target. There is the recoil of the firearm that will cause the gun to rise and is no longer on target. Yes, the target can be required quickly in most cases but hopefully, it is not necessary.

There have been some high-profile incidents similar to the Milwaukee shooting. Most notable in the state of Florida. The events there led to the controversial statement by County Sheriff Bob Johnson to encourage homeowners to shoot and defend themselves and save taxpayers some money.

As crime continues to rise across the country, instances of violence like this will continue to occur. The increasingly progressive district attorneys, who are backed by George Soros money, are continuing to care more about the criminal than the victim. Homeowners will need to be prepared to defend the castle.
