Tom Brady Has a Problem With “Kids These Days”

Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion, has words for (some) younger NFL players, and we are here for it!

For the quarterback icon, football should be about “we” instead of “me.”

In a podcast interview with “DeepCut with VicBlends” in April, Brady talked about how he is having a hard time understanding the younger generation’s me-first mentality.

“I think the biggest problem with a lot of f—ing kids these days, it’s all about them,” Brady thundered.

“Their brand, their social media. When it’s about ‘me’ and then not about ‘us,’ well, there’s no way to succeed as a team if all you’re doing is thinking how selfish it is for you to get the attention.”

VicBlends supported Brady’s comment and said, “It’s cool to show the world how great you are, but the most inspiring thing is how great you can make others.”

Brady added, “That’s the point of life.”

“Is what we could do – how do you help other people finish the race?”

The podcast was anticipated by many, as its teaser showcased Brady telling the host that he was “not opposed” to returning to the NFL.

“I don’t know. …I’m always going to be in good shape, always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ coming back, I don’t know if they’d let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Brady has been a leader in the NFL and dubbed as one of its exceptional quarterbacks. He started his career at San Mateo High School and proceeded to attend the University of Michigan, where he led the Wolverines in its championship for 10 straight seasons.

However, his less-than-stellar performance and a 5.17-second 40-yard dash contributed to his descent during the overall draft.

The legendary player remarked: “That 199 mentality, it’s a good mentality to have.”

“If I were still playing football, I’d still feel like I was the underdog. But I don’t approach anything differently.”

His mindset contributed to advancing his remarkable NFL career, where he started as a backup for the New England Patriots. Soon, he became their star quarterback, achieving wins, passing yards, and securing Super Bowl victories.

During his interview, Brady shared that the people drafting him were mostly concerned with his strength.

He remarked: “I didn’t naturally have the biggest build…but where I really exceed[ed] expectations was my ability mentally to understand what I needed to do.”

“To be better, to learn the game, to learn the tactics of the game, to learn the discipline of the game, to learn the strategy of the game. Emotionally, how can I bring a positive, team-first attitude every single day? Not self-focused, not self-serving.”
