Technocracy is the political philosophy that calls for complete control of society by an exclusive and elite group of technical experts since they are the most qualified individuals. Woke-ism is the tool in which those espousing these ideas use to achieve their goal. Technology based industries and are leading the charge to ensure the equality of result. So, it is surprising one technology CEO is standing firm in his stance against “wokeness”.
Jesse Powell is the CEO of Kraken which is a Crypto Currency Exchange platform with a trading volume of over $200 billion. The company has more than three thousand employees from more than seventy different countries and those workers speak more than fifty different languages making it a diverse place to work.
The 41 year-old businessman recently took a stand against the tidal wave of “wokeism” dominating his industry today. He informed his employees there is no room for hurt feelings and group think within his organization.
The company had existed for over a decade with no complaints of anti-diversity since the company was founded in 2011. When the Crypto boom struck, employees were brought on board that did not align with the original mission.
Leaked Slack messages from employees indicated Powell made comments within the business some considered offensive to race and gender. It ignited a woke culture war within Kraken. Calls for censorship and blacklisting arose from all corners of the entity.
The resulting ideological effort to destroy the lives of people of all races, genders, and age became a massive distraction within the company. It is happening in businesses all across the country and many of those companies are capitulating to the hive mindset and trying to appease their employees. Powell took the opposite stance.
He issued a new mission statement for the company to ensure every staff member is fully aware of the expected culture.
He told Fox & Friends, “If nobody is ever offended, we either don’t have enough diversity of thought or we don’t have enough transparency in communication.” Any employee choosing to leave the company is eligible for a four month severance package.
According to Protocol.com, the severance package plan is called “Jet Ski”. Roughly 1% of Kraken’s employees have taken the package. The mission statement is clear with expectations. “Krakenites are expected to be thick-skinned with good intentions”. If they continue to subscribe to the disruptive mindset, they will be managed out.
Powell joins fellow tech CEO Elon Musk in their workplace expectations. Both are clear to their employees that policies and procedures are for everyone. If you are uncomfortable with those rules, then you are free to move on to a different employer.
The Kraken founder has not backed down since he published his new mission statement. He is standing by his beliefs. After all, the whole idea of Crypto Currency is to gain individual financial freedom and ultimately be different. To achieve that goal, individual freedom and the ability to think for yourself free of fear is the most important ingredient.
