President Donald Trump made history as he attended and gave a speech at the Libertarian Convention on Saturday.
Despite jeers from the audience, the former president continued his remarks, finishing his entire speech for 33 minutes.
The presumptive Republican nominee fiercely faced members of the Libertarian Party and invited them to defeat President Joe Biden.
“Combine with us — you have to combine with us,” Trump remarked, which was booed by some of the attendees, but he was unfazed.
He continued, “We cannot give Crooked Joe Biden four more years.”
“You can keep going the way you have for the last long decades and get your 3 percent and meet again, get another 3 percent,” he added.
Despite the rowdy environment, Trump maintained his calm and reminded the crowd, “It’s time to be winners,” said President Trump, adding: “I’m asking for the Libertarian Party’s endorsement, or at least lots of your votes.”
He continued reaching out and emphasized that he came to “extend a hand of friendship,” which prompted the audience to chant, “We Want Trump!”
The former president also vowed to free the founder of the Silk Road deep web marketplace, who has been in prison for more than a decade.
“And if you vote for me, on day one, I will commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht.”
“He’s already served 11 years … we’re gonna get him home,” this was applauded by the Libertarians.
Many Party members blasted the government’s overreach in creating a case against Ulbricht and the Silk Road.
Trump’s attitude at the event was praised by the online community.
Charlie Kirk, a conservative commentator, shared a video of Trump during the convention and captioned it: “Trump tells the Libertarian Convention that they can either keep getting 3% of the vote every four years, or they back him and become winners. What a boss.”
Investigative journalist Laura Loomer remarked how Trump shifted the energy at the Libertarian National Convention.
She wrote, “Trump went from being booed after every word of his speech at the Libertarian National Convention to having the attendees eating out of his hand and cheering for him.
He’s the best communicator in the entire world.”
Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) quipped, “Trump’s speech at the libertarian convention is strong and powerful.”
“He came out strong against the Central Bank Digital Currency. Against unnecessary wars. Against high taxes. For pro-growth, light-touch regulatory reforms. Libertarians everywhere should watch and listen.”
Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy clapped back at Joe Biden’s campaign team, who mocked Trump on X and said: “Shame on Biden. Real men face people who disagree with them instead of hiding in their bunkers.
Libertarian Party chairwoman Angela McArdle acknowledged Trump and his campaign’s efforts and presence, saying that at least they were “willing to come and speak.”
“President Trump, or at least his team, perceive themselves as needing our votes,” McArdle said. “They’re willing to come and speak to us, listen to us. That’s really unprecedented. Why wouldn’t we take that opportunity?”
