Trump Ponders Pardon for Assange

President Donald Trump expressed that he would give some serious thoughts on pardoning WikiLeaks’ founder Julian Assange in an interview with podcaster Tim Pool minutes before he delivered his speech at the Libertarian National Convention on Saturday.

The Raging Patriot noted that Assange was instrumental in exposing the Clinton Family. He wrote on Rumble, “Wikileaks exposed Hillary Clinton, John Podesta, and many others connected to the Clintons by revealing hacked emails that Hillary had on her private server.”

“These emails were devastating to her campaign as they showed even the people closest to her said she had “bad instincts” and also exposed how corrupt she was, like when she received debate emails prior to the debate.”

Timcast IRL asked Trump if he would pardon the activist and Wikileaks founder if reelected, to which Trump replied, “We’re going to give it very serious consideration, and we’re going to have a couple of other things to say in the speech that I think you’re going to love.”

Last week, London’s High Court allowed Assange to appeal an upcoming extradition to the United States as he claimed that he might not be able to exercise his right to free speech in a court in the United States.

Assange faces at least 18 charges under the Espionage Act after he acquired and published military and diplomatic information and allegedly conspired with hackers. His mass release of US classified documents is the largest security breach of their kind in US military history.

Gabriel Shipton, Wikileaks’ brother, welcomed Trump’s remarks. In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, he said, “I think we are reaching a critical point in the fight to free Julian. All presidential candidates have made statements on Julian’s freedom in the past two months.”

“It’s time this scandalous prosecution is brought to an end and, with the help of the Australian government, Julian is brought home to be with his family,” he added.

Trump told conservative commentator Candace Owens in a 2021 interview that he came “very close” to pardoning Assange towards the end of his term.

“You have two sides of it: In one case, you have sort of a spy deal going on, and then in another case, you have somebody that’s exposing real corruption,” he shared.

“I won’t say which one, but I feel a little bit more strongly about one than the other….but I could have done it.”

“I will say you have people on both sides of that issue. Good people on both sides, and you have some bad people on one side. But I decided to let that one ride, let the courts work it out. And I guess the courts are actually doing that.”

Pool also asked the presumptive Republican nominee if he would prosecute Fauci for “lying on Congress.”

“Yeah, and we’ll take a look at the statute of limitations, because you know, the statute of limitations are quite long,” Trump told the podcast host. “We’ll be taking a look at that very seriously.”

He also blasted the Biden administration for emboldening Fauci.

“Fauci wasn’t a big player in my administration like he was after I left,” Trump said in the interview. “I mean, Biden made him the king of everything.”
