If re-elected, former President Donald Trump said he is inclined to impose more than a 60 percent import tax on China.

According to a report from Nicholas Pagnotta, Raging Patriot’s co-founder, this bold announcement by Trump is an effort to stop our country from “getting ripped off.”

During an interview with Fox News, the GOP leader was asked to clarify sources that he consulted his advisers about the chances that he could impose a flat 60 percent tariff on all Chinese goods.

The former president responded, “No, I would say maybe it’s going to be more than that.”

During his presidency, Trump was known for his aggressive stance against the Chinese Communist Party. He called out Xi Jinping for their espionage activities and unfair trade practices.

In 2018, Trump started implementing Section 301, as a result of an investigation conducted by a United States Trade Representative exposed that China was involved in illegal practices, including excessive government subsidies and stealing intellectual property.

The former president swiftly imposed a 25 percent import tax on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods. As Beijing retaliated, Trump followed his order with a 25 percent tariff on $250 billion worth of Chinese imports and a 7.5 percent import tax on an additional $120 billion worth of goods.

By 2020, China and the United States agreed on a trade deal in January 2020.

Biden administration, leeching on Trump’s tax success on China, retained the tariffs and imposed additional restrictions barring the export of advanced semiconductors and the equipment to make them.

Trump turned down the news that he would start another trade war with the Communist China.

The MAGA leader clarified, “It’s not a trade war. I did great with China with everything.”

“I want China to do great, I do. And I like President Xi a lot. He was a very good friend of mine during my term.”

Trump also believed that China would attempt to meddle with the upcoming 2024 elections.

“I think they will, and they won’t be interfering on my behalf. We should go same-day voting, paper ballots, voter ID, and no mail-in ballots,” the former president said.

During a recent congressional hearing, FBI Director Christopher Wray expressed disbelief as the CCP’s foreign minister Wang Yi, that China would not interfere in the elections.

Wray hit Yi, saying “China has promised a lot of things over the years. So I guess I’ll believe it when I see it,”

Trump has been on top of election polls since last year. In a recent national survey by McLaughlin and Associates, Trump leads Biden at 47 percent to 43 percent.

They gathered votes from 1,000 likely general election voters from January 25 to January 31.
