To better the lives of working people, former President Trump floated the idea of removing income tax and worked with legal experts to impose additional taxes on imported goods.
During a meeting with the House GOP in Washington on Thursday, Trump told lawmakers that he would like to propose hikes on tariffs and extend the tax cuts he introduced in 2017.
“He does want to look at lowering the income tax, and that could be offset and paid for by some type of tariffs, particularly on adversarial nations,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-New York) shared after the meeting.
Trump’s pitch was well received by House Republicans, even those who are skeptical of the proposal.
On Sunday, during a campaign rally in Nevada, Trump pledged to remove taxes on tips.
“For those hotel workers and people that get tips, you’re going to be very happy. Because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips,” Trump vowed.
Trump’s proposals to ease the tax burden were lauded by workers and lawmakers.

News personality Rogan O’Handley wrote on X, “Who could possibly be against this?!”

Conservative commentator Joey Mannarino also weighed in, “If Trump actually eliminated the income tax and replaced them with tariffs, there would be no greater place on earth to have tax residency than America.”

Television and radio host, Wayne Root quipped: “BRAVO! I’ve been fighting for 0 income taxes for 40 years! Democrats are the dumbest people on earth. Because who among us would not jump at the idea of eliminating income tax??? Anyone who is not for this is brain dead moron, communist, or a broke jealous loser.”
