A professor at the University of Kansas has been placed on administrative leave following incendiary remarks made during a recent lecture. Professor Phil Lowcock, who serves as the director of international student-athlete support in the Health Sport and Exercise Sciences department, sparked outrage after suggesting that men who do not support a female presidential candidate should face extreme consequences.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Lowcock stated, “There are going to be some males in our society that will refuse to vote for a potential female president because they don’t think females are smart enough to be president.” He further escalated the situation by declaring, “We can line all those guys up and shoot them.”
The professor attempted to backtrack on his comments, saying, “Did I say that? Scratch that from the recording. I don’t want the deans hearing that I said that.” This attempt at humor did little to quell the outrage that followed.
The backlash was swift and severe, with many calling for his immediate termination. One anonymous user on X remarked, “He needs to be fired immediately. It’s bad enough he said it but then he tried to cover it up.”
Another user expressed disbelief, stating, “[What the hell] is wrong with people? He should not be allowed to teach and should be investigated.”

A third user added, “No calls for violence should be tolerated. He needs to be fired immediately.”
In response to the uproar, the University of Kansas issued a statement confirming that Professor Lowcock has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted. The university also conveyed that “The instructor offers his sincerest apologies and deeply regrets the situation. His intent was to emphasize his advocacy for women’s rights and equality, and he recognized he did a very poor job of doing so.”
The Post Millennial has reached out to both the University of Kansas and Professor Lowcock for further comment.
