USA Today Poll: President Biden approval falls to 38%, VP Harris down to 28%

US President Joe Biden’s approval rating has fallen to under 38% according to a new USA Today poll, which also reveals the majority of Americans polled don’t want him to run for president again.

A USA Today and Suffolk University poll of 1,000 registered US voters last week found that just 37.8% of voters approve of “the job Biden has done as president,” with 59% disagreeing that the president has done a good job.

Even fewer Americans approve of Vice President Kamala Harris. Only 27.8% of those polled believe Harris has done a good job, with a sizeable 21% undecided, according to the poll which was released on released on Sunday.

Americans overwhelmingly support the infrastructure bill Biden is about to sign, but they are split on the more expensive and further-reaching “Build Back Better” act being debated in Congress. Only 1 in 4 say the bill’s provisions would help them and their families.

The poll was taken Wednesday through Friday, therefore it does not factor in any boost the administration may have received from passage of an infrastructure package.

If the election were to be held today, those surveyed say, they would vote for their Republican congressional candidate over the Democratic one by 46%-38%, an advantage that would help the GOP gain a majority in the House and the Senate.

In a president’s first midterm election, his party usually loses ground. The GOP would need to flip just five seats in the House and one in the Senate to claim control.
