Country music star Travis Tritt publicly backed former President Donald Trump after the FBI raided his Mar-A-Lago estate on Monday.

Tritt claimed that the criminal justice system was being “politically weaponized”.

The FBI was allegedly looking for boxes of documents in President Trump’s home that he was not to be in possession of.

They raided his home for approximately 9 hours and even raided through Melania’s wardrobe.

Tritt took to Truth Social after the event. He said:

The FBI raiding the home of @realDonaldTrump is a bridge too far. Our entire criminal justice system has been politically weaponized and we must put a stop to it. Vote against every single Democrat and RINO at every level of government in November.

Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, also took to Truth Social to share some unexpected news after the raid.

He said:

DonaldJTrump.com is shattering all fundraising records and I’m told has raised more money in the past 24 hours than ever before in recent history! The American people are pissed!

The FBI raided Trump’s Florida home while he was gone because they wanted to avoid media attention. According to a Justice Department official, it was a “spectacular backfire.”

Newsweek spoke to two government officials, a senior intelligence official, and a Justice Department official for their story.

“I know that there is much speculation out there that this is political persecution, but it is really the best and the worst of the bureaucracy in action,” the DOJ official said.

“They wanted to punctuate the fact that this was a routine law enforcement action, stripped of any political overtones, and yet they got exactly the opposite.”

“They were seeking to avoid any media circus,” said a second source, a senior intelligence official who was briefed on the operation.”

“So even though everything made sense bureaucratically and the FBI feared that the documents might be destroyed, they also created the very firestorm they sought to avoid, in ignoring the fallout.”

“It really is a case of the Bureau misreading the impact,” a DOJ official said.

The FBI was allegedly looking for government-owned documents that Trump had in his possession, but was required to deliver to the Archives under the provisions of the 1978 Presidential Records Act.

Trump, however, had been in contact with the Archives and had been working with them to get the documents back.

The New York Post reported:

Trump’s attorneys, led by Evan Corcoran, had been cooperating fully with federal authorities on the return of the documents to the National Archives and Records Administration, according to sources.

In May, Corcoran granted access into Mar-a-Lago’s windowless storage room to FBI agents who spent several hours searching through the boxes. Trump stopped by the basement to say hello at one point, says someone who was there.

So the FBI and Archives already had knowledge that the documents were there and Trump was working with authorities to get them back, but the raid still happened.
