Popular singer and songwriter Billie Eilish is under fire for allegedly using a hateful racial slur against Asians.
According to reporters, the musical sensation supposedly used a racial slur targeted at Asians in a Tik Tok video. The 19 year old mocked several accents and ethnicities, using the Asain slur “c—k”, among others. According to the New York Post, “TikTok user @lcxvy posted the inflammatory clip on the platform Monday, and it had racked up 1 million views as of Thursday morning.”
The video prompted many on the popular social networking platform to use the hashtag, ‘#billieeilishcancelled’. In another video, Eilishe’s brother condemned the remarks and called out his sister for her pervasive language and racist rhetoric. In the New York Post’s reporting, they added, “Reps for Eilish did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment, but the clip — which has since been reposted to Twitter — didn’t sit too well with many viewers.”
However, not everyone was so critical of the artist, “U guys are sensitive and she was 14, she does not act like that anymore and we all [k]now it but for some reason we dug out those vids,” said one supporter on TikTok.
