A super PAC is a political action committee that can raise and spends unlimited amounts of money. They receive the money from corporations, labor unions, individuals, and various other associations to try and influence the outcome of state and federal elections.
The official name of a Super Pac is an independent expenditure-only political committee. These organizations are tax-exempt and overseen by the Federal Elections Commission. Typically, candidates are not involved in the activities of these groups.
The growth of the super PAC began a new era in politics in which the outcome of elections is determined by the large amounts of money flowing into them. The concept puts more power into the hands of the wealthy while leaving average voters with no influence.
In the Alabama Senate race of 2017, Judge Roy Moore was the Republican candidate while Doug Jones was the Democrat candidate. Judge Moore lost the race to Jones turning the district over to the Republicans for the first time in a quarter of a century.
The Senate Majority PAC funded a group called Highway 31 that ran a $4 million advertising blitz against Moore. The group created a television advertisement combining several quotes from your females who claimed Judge Moore was inappropriate towards them.
The commercial used words from various quotes and combined them to give Moore an image of a sexual predator. The advertisement said: “What do people who know Roy Moore say?…”Moore was banned from the Gadsden mall … for soliciting sex from young girls”.
Judge Moore filed a defamation suit against the PAC. A judge on Friday awarded Moore $8 million in damages. The jury found it incomprehensible that the commercial strung pieces of quotes together to make it seem like it was one sentence.
“We’re very thankful to God for an opportunity to help restore my reputation which was severely damaged by the 2017 election,” Moore said according to the Independent Sentinel.
Judge Moore was not charged with any crimes and there was never any evidence of wrongdoing. Despite, no evidence, the political ad was very successful. The people of Alabama were angry resulting in Jones getting elected.
Jones ran as a moderate Democrat which turned out to be a lie. He sided with the progressives in every way during his time in office. Ultimately, Jones would be voted out and replaced with retired Auburn head football coach Tommy Tuberville in 2020.
The political hit job on Judge Moore was a sign of things to come for the Democrat Party and their donors. They have been willing to say anything about a candidate and anything about a political situation.
Just this past month, the Democrat talking point has been there is no recession when the economy is clearly in a recession. A recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth. The United States has experienced this over the last two quarters.
During the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, the Democrats threw out numerous falsities against the nominee. They accused him of everything from rape to flatulence. Yes, you read that right. Farting. The esteemed Senator Whitehouse from Rhode Island had a back and forth with the nominees about farting.
The 2022 mid-term elections are near. The Democrats and their donors will sink to new lows in their accusations and lies. All polls indicate a crushing defeat in nearly every race that is close. You can expect a whole range of lies coming from the progressive left. They know their existence is on the line.
