WHERE’S WALLACE? Chris Wallace Vanishes Following CNN’s Streaming Service’s Failure: Forced To Switch Networks

Chris Wallace recently left Fox News and joined CNN earlier this year in hopes that he would host a primetime show on the network.

However, it didn’t turn out as planned. Wallace’s show aired on the CNN+ Streaming service that is now dead.

Then, his show was moved over to HBO Max after CNN had to shut down their streaming service after they spent roughly $300 million on the failed streaming service.

New CNN CEO Chris Licht says that Wallace’s show will remain on HBO Max, but will also air on CNN one night a week.

“Licht announced back in May at the company upfront that Wallace’s interview streaming program on CNN+ named Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? will stream on HBO Max—and air on the CNN TV network weekly on Sunday evenings; but he did not disclose a timeslot. Until now,” Ad Week reported.

“A big part of the CNN brand is respectful, authentic and impactful interviews—and one of the best interviewers in the business is Chris Wallace, who is here with us this morning,” Licht remarked at the time.

“We’re excited to announce that Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? will return to production this fall, with episodes on HBO Max and on our CNN linear channel on Sunday evenings. Chris’s show will be part of what we’re calling ‘CNN Sunday.’ It’s a unique opportunity for your brands to appear alongside our premium content.”

CNN is experiencing cuts as new ownership is attempting to salvage what is left of the “fake-news” network.

Brian Stelter was just let go and signed off on his last program at the network.

A report says that Licht is far from being done with making alterations at CNN.

Licht replaced Jeff Zucker as the CEO of CNN earlier this year and began evaluating the very partisan on-air talent shortly after he took over.

The Daily Wire reported about changes to the “New Day” morning show:

It will be replaced by a roundtable-type program patterned after MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” possibly hosted by Jake Tapper, according to RadarOnline. Licht has reportedly tried to hire “Morning Joe” husband-wife hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski away from the rival liberal cable news network.

“Chris comes from the same breeding ground as [former CNN boss Jeff] Zucker: morning television,” a CNN insider told RadarOnline. “He wants to establish a popular morning show that sets the agenda for the network each day. He doesn’t want to change anchors frequently. He wants strength and stability — and believes it all starts in the all-important morning timeslot.”

“New Day” was started by Zucker in 2013. It featured hosts Chris Cuomo, Kate Bolduan, and Michaela Pereira. It also had former Fox News host Alisyn Camerota who later joined the show.

A CNN insider told Deadline that the decision to let go of Stelter was “coming from above.”

They aren’t positive if the decision came from John Malone or not, but say that it reflects John Malone’s thinking.
