In an odd, but admittedly admirable turn for CNN, host John Berman put CDC Director Rochelle Walensky’s feet ot the proverbial fire on an oasis of journalistic objectivity amidst the typical sea of biased activist “news” coverage normally on offer from CNN.
In a hard-hitting interview, Berman interrogated Walensky as to the logic behind the CDC’s decision to update its mask mandate to include even vaccinated individuals the requirement to wear masks. Berman roared at Walensky, “You can understand the frustration in those of us who are vaccinated saying, ‘Why the hell do I have to pay the price for this?’ ”.
Walensky stumbled through a half-cocked response, “With prior variants, when people had these rare breakthrough infections, we didn’t see the capacity of them to spread the virus to others,” Walensky explained. “But with the Delta variant, we now see in our outbreak investigations that have been occurring over the last couple of weeks, in those outbreak investigations, we have been seeing that if you happen to have one of those breakthrough infections, that you can actually now pass it to somebody else.”
Walensky mysteriously referred to this as “new science”, and with a generous degree of evasion stated, “The science that prompted this guidance is just days old. And in the coming days you will actually see the published information on the science that motivated this change,”.
In what could seem to be a final snipe that those who made the decision to not receive the vaccination, Walensky stated that there “reasonably high chance, if nobody is wearing a mask, to interact with people who may be infectious.”.
It was indeed an admirable break for CNN and the devil simply must receive their due on this one. Accidental journalism is a phenomenon that has crept into CNN’s inner working from time to time, but one is fairly certain that if CNN is caught accidentally telling the truth, they will lie their way out of it.
