A Good Samaritan grandfather of 11, Simon Mancilla Sr., stopped an armed robbery by intervening when he saw the man choking the woman outside a check-cashing business in north Houston.
“I just did what I had to do,” Mancilla said of the incident. “I’m just glad I was able to help.”
The robber, who has not been identified, fled the scene after Mancilla intervened. The young woman also wished to remain anonymous and thanked Mancilla for his bravery.
“He’s my hero,” she said. “I don’t know what would have happened if he hadn’t been there.”
Mancilla says he was just happy to be able to help and hopes his actions inspire others to do the same.
“If everyone helped each other out, the world would be a better place,” he said. “I’m just glad I could do my part.”
Mancilla was driving home from work when he spotted the robbery and decided to intervene. “I open my window, ‘Hey man don’t make a problem,'” Mancilla Sr. said.
But then, the robber turned on him and forced Mancilla out of his truck. They fought until eventually, the robber was able to jump into the truck and drive away.
Mancilla wasn’t about to let the criminal get away that easily. He chased after the thief on foot and was eventually able to catch up to him. Mancilla physically tried to subdue the violent criminal by pulling him out of the truck.
Thankfully, the brave grandfather was able to stop the robbery and save the young woman from being harmed. He is truly a hero!
The incident happened on September 7 outside a business on an Airline near Parker Road just east of the North Freeway. Surveillance video of the incident shows the grandfather, who has not been identified, approaching the robber as he was attempting to flee the scene.
The grandfather can be seen wrestling with the robber, eventually taking him down to the ground. The young woman, who was the intended victim of the robbery, is then seen running to safety.
The robber is described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants.
This comes as liberal cities have been overrun with violence. For example, Asheville, North Carolina has seen a sharp increase in violent crime in recent years, as the number of police officers has dwindled.
The city’s tourist-friendly image has made it a target for criminals, who see an opportunity to take advantage of visitors.
Asheville’s police department is understaffed and overworked, and officers say they are struggling to keep up with the city’s crime wave.
The situation has led to a sense of lawlessness in the city, and residents are concerned for their safety.
What was once a safe and welcoming city for tourists is now becoming known as a hotbed of crime, and residents are worried for their safety.
Residents are taking matters into their own hands to protect themselves, as the city’s police department struggles to keep up with an increasing crime rate.
Asheville is in the midst of a perfect storm of factors that have led to a sharp increase in violent crime. Unless something is done to address the root causes of the problem, the city’s reputation as a safe and welcoming place to visit will continue to decline.
Based upon the actions of the female, whose race was also not revealed, my instincts tell me the two people knew each other and this might have been a lovers quarrel. Also, I don’t see anything to support that this was a robbery.
