“It is my honor to announce our endorsement of the 45th and soon to be 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump!” announced NRA-PVF Chairman Randy Kozuch.
From a historical campaign rally, in the deep blue state of New Jersey to clinching a monumental endorsement from the National Rifle Association–President Donald Trump has been on a winning streak these past weeks.
On May 20, coinciding with the organization’s leadership forum in Louisville, Kentucky, the National Rifle Association proudly endorsed Trump for President.
Before the presumptive Republican nominee walked in for his address, its executive director for Legislative Action, Chris Cox, said:
“We have to unite, and we have to unite right now. So on behalf of the thousands of patriots in this room and the 5 million NRA members across this country and the tens of millions who support us, I’m officially announcing the NRA’s endorsement of Donald Trump for president,” Cox remarked.
“Now is the time to unite. If your preferred candidate got out of the race, it’s time to get over it,” he added.
The executive director also cited a clip of Hillary Clinton where she was quoted, “The Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment.”
He then turned to the audience, “Think about that for a second: The Supreme Court said you have the right to protect your life against a murderer in your own home, and Hillary Clinton says they got it wrong.”
“That’s how little she values our freedom and how little she values our lives.”
NRA’s executive vice president, Wayne LaPierre, echoed Cox and called on the crowd to go out and stand up against the “decree of the elites.”
“We in this room, we are America’s best hope, and this is our moment. In all of history, there’s always been a time and a place when patriots stand up and rise up against the decree of the elites and shout, ‘No more! Get your hands off my freedom!’”
Trump thanked the NRA and gratefully accepted the organization’s support.
He remarked, “The NRA has led the fight time and time again to protect our fundamental freedoms. This is an amazing group. I’ll tell you, Chris, and Wayne, and all of the people—and I’ve gotten to know a lot of [them] … these are incredible people.”
In their press release, the NRA-ILA explained their backing for Trump: “[Trump] has championed the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners across our nation.”
Since his 2016 presidency, Trump has upheld the 2nd Amendment rights, particularly the people’s right to possess a firearm.
The NRA-ILA added, “Generations of Americans will benefit from his promise to transform the federal judiciary. By appointing a record-setting number of judges who respect and value the Second Amendment—including Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh—President Trump reversed a disturbing trend of appointing activist judges. The long-term impact of these lifetime appointments cannot be overstated, and the NRA knows that his focus on the judiciary will continue to be a very high priority during a second term.”
The NRA in 2023 announced that they are 5 million members strong.
