[UPDATE] Texas Governor Greg Abbott proved once again that putting up wires along Shelby Park is “effective.”

According to reports, illegal entry of migrants in Eagle Pass dropped since Abbott stood firm in closing down the border.

Tension in Eagle Pass rose as conflict between Texas and the federal government reached an impasse in January.

More than half of US governors support Abbott’s defiant stance in closing the border. Meanwhile, the Customs and Border Protection agents expressed that they have no intentions of cutting Texas’ wires and debunking reports that they are going to arrest Texas’ National Guards.

According to the CBP, “December 2023 saw over 71,000 apprehensions and by January the numbers dropped to just over 16,700. In one month, that is a 76 percent decrease.

However, despite this major development, the border crisis brought by Biden’s open-door policy seems far from being resolved, as smugglers and cartels only change strategy and pivot to Arizona and California.

Reports from the CBP say that over the last week of January, they were able to apprehend 32,809 illegal migrants.

The majority of the incidents (71.8 percent) occurred in Arizona and California. As for the southern border, which covers Eagle Pass, border agents say it only saw 3,000 to 4,000 illegal entries per day.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott maintained his firm stance and persisted in strengthening the southern border amid its conflict with the Biden administration.

On January 30, Abbott posted a video to X, which was formerly Twitter, stating that Texas “will continue to use every tool and strategy available to defend our southern border” and that “border wall construction is ongoing along the Texas-Mexico border.”

Although a Supreme Court decision stated that agents might cut razor wire along the Rio Grande, the governor of Texas emphasized that they have the right to defend itself against what he has dubbed an “invasion” at the border.

The Biden administration alleged that Texas’ concertina wires prevent border inspectors from entering strategic locations.

During his interview with media personality Tucker Carlson on his Uncensored show, Abbott stressed, “We are prepared in the event that that unlikely event does occur to make sure that we will be able to continue exactly what we’ve been doing over the past month, and that is building these barriers.”
