Riots Intensify in LA as Body Discovered Near Looted Store

Los Angeles police discovered a deceased individual on a city sidewalk shortly after protesters had dispersed, casting a shadow over the pro-immigration rallies.

According to KTLA, officers were dispatched to the location of the unrest at approximately 1:30 a.m. PST on Tuesday following reports of an unresponsive male. They found him lying on his back, dressed in a red sweatshirt, near a T-Mobile store that had been set ablaze—one of many businesses targeted by looters.

Whether the man’s death is connected to the violence remains uncertain. The station aired footage showing the body, covered with a canopy, as authorities conducted their investigation into the situation.

The intersection of West 3rd Street and Broadway has become a focal point of the turmoil sparked by U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement raids over the weekend. Initially a peaceful protest against the operation, the demonstration escalated into chaos when individuals began wearing face shields and earplugs while throwing cinder blocks, electric scooters, and other hazardous objects at federal agents.

Photos from the area depict improvised barricades as rioters launched fireworks at National Guardsmen and Marines deployed by the Trump administration in an effort to reestablish control in Los Angeles. Even prominent figures in mainstream media have criticized the weak and delayed actions of city and state leaders, including Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom.

Locals who have seen their livelihoods destroyed in the chaos express growing frustration with current leadership.

“What’s the point of protesting right now? It’s just harming the community more than it’s helping,” Eddie Velazquez, a business owner operating close to one of the hardest-hit zones, told the New York Post.

Scenes of destruction feature vehicles engulfed in flames and storefronts shattered in communities like Compton and Paramount, where protestors have desecrated American flags while urging others to “burn it all down.”

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement insider informed the publication that aggressive demonstrators appear to be defending “the actual criminals … sex offenders and the terrorists” targeted in recent operations—an indication of widespread misinformation about the individuals involved.

“You have criminals, gang members, terrorists, child molesters, sex offenders that are being arrested, but since people don’t know the background of the case or what’s going on, everybody’s innocent,” the source described.

This situation continues to evolve…
