Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is once again in the news. This time it seems that he is actually on the offensive. In the aftermath of a cascade of controversy, most of it not warranted. Most of it, in fact, spun up by a partisan media who sees DeSantis, not completely unjustifiably, as slightly different version of Donald Trump. DeSantis is now anxious to pick a fight with the Food and Drug Administration. He controversial claim here is that a major institution might actually have not been completely transparent with the public. DeSantis is happy to pick a fight and if it is with an institution that may have done harm to the public, he would likely consider that a double win.

It is now being reported by Becker News that:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration has filed a lawsuit alleging that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not complied with a public-records request that would shed light on why the FDA has not yet approved the state’s proposed program to import cheaper prescription drugs from Canada.

Gov. DeSantis railed against the drug regulator at a press conference announcing the lawsuit.

“630 days, you know, we still sit here waiting for an answer,” DeSantis said at a press conference. “And so it’s our view that we’ve waited long enough.

And so today we’re taking action. The state of Florida has now filed a lawsuit against the FDA. They have unlawfully withheld and unreasonably delayed approval of Florida’s program.

And we think this violates federal law. So we’re asking a federal judge to order the FDA to put an end to that delay and to approve Florida’s [plan].”

The Florida lawsuit, filed in federal court on Monday, comes after the Agency for Health Care Administration filed a Freedom of Information Act request on July 6 that sought FDA records on Florida and other states’ drug-import proposals.

That isn’t the end of the intersection between DeSantis and the law. It has been further reported by NPR that:

A Florida prosecutor is suing Gov. Ron DeSantis for removing him from office.

The state attorney from Tampa, Andrew Warren, was ousted earlier this month by DeSantis. The Republican governor said he acted because of statements Warren had signed pledging not to prosecute people for violating abortion restrictions or a law prohibiting gender-affirming care for minors.

Warren filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court, saying that the governor violated his First Amendment right to freedom of speech. Although he spoke in favor of abortion rights and gender-affirming medical care, Warren had not taken any action on those issues and his office had no cases pending.

Warren was twice elected as state attorney, and Warren says DeSantis violated his right to freedom of speech and by his actions overturned an election.

“There’s so much more at stake here than my job,” Warren said at a news conference in Tallahassee.

Warren says DeSantis also violated Florida law by improperly removing him from office for political reasons.

“The governor’s authority is not unlimited,” Warren said.

Ron DeSantis has indeed been a thorn in the sides of many on the woke left for some time. We just reported earlier this week that “DeSantis believes schools should provide the best education possible and not indoctrination. He didn’t stop his quest at elections. On Friday, he suspended four female members of the Broward County School Board and replaced them with four men“. In fact in a press release, DeSantis said that it was his solemn duty to suspend the people from the office when they have shown clear signs of incompetence or negligence. That seems like a fair deal.

Additionally, we recently reported that DeSantis went off on the one and only Dr. Anthony Fauci. At that time, he said that someone should just grab the little elf and chuck him across the Potomac. Charming quips aside, DeSantis’ real bone that he had to pick was Fauci’s policies. My Raging Patriot collegue, Nicole Lear wrote that “DeSantis made a point very clear at the rally. He said that if Floridians were forced to put up with the Fauci-led mandates for COVID-19, the effects could have been damaging. But, because DeSantis kept Florida free, most people escaped the insanity.”
