MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell snagged an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris during her trip to Munich, Germany.
Though a lot of the coverage surrounding the interview focuses on the fake news that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis doesn’t want the history of slavery in our country taught in schools, Mitchell did drop some truth bombs.
Before taking on the subject of Ron DeSantis’ educational policies, Mitchell asked the VP about her and President Biden’s favorability.
She asked, “Why do you think the president has such low popularity, favorable ratings, and you have even less favorable ratings? Why do you think that is?”
Harris gave a typical politician-type answer about what the American people want and how this administration is helping. She never answered the question.
When Mitchell brought up the lie about DeSantis, Harris was able to directly answer that one.
The MSNBC host asked, “What does Governor Ron DeSantis not know about Black history and the Black experience when he says that slavery and the aftermath of slavery should not be taught to Florida schoolchildren?”
She replied, “I don’t know what he knows and what he doesn’t know but I know this, any push to censor America’s teachers and tell them what they should be teaching in the best interest of our children in partnership with the parents of America, is I think wrongheaded.”
Harris made sure to add “in partnership with the parents” when she addressed this total misinformation from Mitchell.
Days later, Mitchell has still not issued a correction or apology. Meanwhile, these are the folks screaming about the prevalence of misinformation out there.
DeSantis’ press secretary Bryan Griffin responded to this dereliction of journalistic integrity, tweeting, “Shameful. This question from @mitchellreports exemplifies everything wrong with corporate media. They’re not accidentally terrible at their jobs–they’re maliciously intent on deceiving people. @GovRonDeSantis never said this, and FL has extensive black history requirements.”
For the fact checkers, Griffin added a link to the Florida Department of Education’s African American history requirements.
David Keltz, the former deputy communications director for DeSantis, called Mitchell’s misinformation, “truly disgusting.”
Ian Miller from Outkick referred to Mitchell’s question as an “easily disprovable lie” and backed up his statement with evidence of the Florida State requirements for teaching about slavery in Florida schools.
It’s clearly stated on the Florida Department of Education website.
“It’s almost impossible to imagine a more inaccurate question,” Miller wrote, emphasizing that the VP didn’t bother to correct Mitchell.
“Mitchell is either uninformed or blatantly lying, but either possibility is entirely discrediting,” Miller added.
Those in the mainstream media are shooting themselves in the foot. The American people no longer trust them but they will not adjust their strategy.
They keep telling lies and acting as Democrat operatives. The only way to build trust is to go back to unbiased reporting.
Tell the American people the truth and let them decide on which side of the argument they fall. Our country would be better for it!
