Whoopi Goldberg, one of the cohosts of the daytime talk show The View, was forced to make an on-air apology this week. She made what she is calling a joke about gay marriage in reference to Senator Lindsey Graham.

Liberals have long speculated that the lifelong bachelor might secretly be gay. Comedians joke about it and such talk can be found on various social media sites.

In a conversation with White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, the ladies of The View were discussing the issue of abortion. Jean-Pierre slammed Senator Graham for proposing a nationwide ban on abortion after fifteen weeks.

Jean-Pierre said “We have Lindsey Graham, Senator Graham and other and other leaders of the Republican Party who are saying, and they’re being very clear about this, folks, we got to listen to them that they want a national ban on abortions.

“Senator Graham had said, maybe about a month ago, early August, that he believes when it comes to marriage, when it comes to abortion, it’s for states to decide. So, Senator Graham, what changed?”

Goldberg, channeling her comedic side, chimed in with her gay joke, saying “Well, maybe he’s getting married. Do it quick, ’cause I know people are fooling around with our marriage rights, whoever, wherever you stand.”

It was apparent that the powers-that-be at the ABC network had a little chat with Goldberg during the commercial break. She came back with an awkward apology also adding that she may have to quit the show.

“Before I do this introduction, I need to make clear that I was doing what I do as a comic, sometimes I make jokes and it was a joke,” she said. “Nothing more than that.”

“I just got a whole conversation about people misunderstanding the joke,” Goldberg said, insinuating that she got a tongue-lashing from the show’s producers.

“I mean, okay?

“I should probably never do this show again if this is what it’s coming to,” she continued.

“No, it was a joke, guys.”

It’s funny when a liberal has to live by his or her own rules. It seems that the left decided what’s acceptable humor in 2022 and sometimes it’s difficult to live up to those standards.

Goldberg had a two-week suspension from the show earlier this year when she stated that the Holocaust was not about race. In addition to the suspension, she issued an apology later that day.

“On today’s show, I said the Holocaust is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.”

“I should have said it is about both.”

While the instance involving her take on the Holocaust was truly not a joking matter, the joke about Lindsey Graham is probably considered pretty harmless by most. Unfortunately, we don’t live in a world that can handle that kind of humor anymore.
