In a bold declaration, incoming border czar Tom Homan sent a clear message to Democrat mayors and governors who are preparing to oppose his deportation efforts: “Game on.”
“Let’s see what happens,” Homan stated during an interview on Newsmax’s “America Right Now.” He emphasized the administration’s commitment to prioritizing public safety, asserting, “Because, you know what? We’ve explained, the president, myself, Steve Miller, we’ve all explained that public safety threats should be the priority, right out of the gate. What elected mayor or governor doesn’t want public safety threats removed from their communities?”
Several Democrat governors, including Maura Healey of Massachusetts, Gavin Newsom of California, and J.B. Pritzker, have voiced their intent to resist the incoming Trump administration’s plans for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has taken a particularly confrontational stance, indicating plans to deploy Denver Police officers to the county line to prevent federal agents from enforcing deportations. He controversially likened the situation to the Tiananmen Square protests, although he later retracted that comparison, stating it was an “image I hope we can avoid.”
Despite his retraction, Johnston remains committed to encouraging protests against deportations in Colorado and has expressed a willingness to face arrest to oppose what he deems wrongful actions by the Trump administration.
“Think about that,” Homan remarked, pointing out the responsibilities of elected officials. “Their number one responsibility to their constituency is to protect them. We want to focus on the worst of the worst, and they’re going to stand in our way.”
Homan urged these leaders to either “help us or get out of the way.” He warned against crossing legal boundaries, stating, “Don’t step over a line because there’s a line they can’t cross.” He further cautioned, “Don’t impede us, actively impede us, because that is a crime. Do not knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien from ICE because that’s a crime.”
He reiterated that there are “limitations on what you can do,” and firmly stated, “Don’t cross that line.”
Homan highlighted the legal challenges faced by the previous administration, noting, “You’ve got a federal judge in Texas that said not only are they ignoring the law, they’re actively violating the law by releasing millions of people in this country over the abuse of the parole program.” He outlined the administration’s three primary focuses: securing the border, conducting deportation operations, and locating 300,000 missing children who were allowed to be trafficked into the U.S. under the previous administration.
“What I mean is the over 1 million illegal aliens in this country who had due process at great taxpayer expense, were ordered removed by an immigration judge, but defied that order and became fugitives,” Homan explained. He emphasized that the administration will prioritize those who pose public safety threats.
“I’m going to do this job,” Homan asserted defiantly. “You’re not going to bully me. You’re not going to silence me. You’re not going to make me go away. We’re going to do this job.”
Acknowledging the anticipated backlash from the media, Homan stated, “the left is going to try to skew everything we do.” He predicted that they would attempt to sensationalize deportation operations, saying, “They’re going to try to capture the first female or child crying during operations.” However, he assured that the deportation efforts would be “a targeted, well-targeted, well-planned operation, and it’s going to be humane.”
Homan also encouraged those facing deportation to consider leaving voluntarily, indicating that doing so could allow them to return legally in the future. “If we have to issue a formal removal or a formal order of deportation, you got a 20-year bar,” he warned. “Go home, save yourself from having a 20-year bar put on you. It’s the right thing to do not only for the country, it’s the right thing to do for yourself so you can create future opportunities for you.”
As the Trump administration prepares to take office, Homan’s message is clear: the focus will be on enforcing immigration laws and prioritizing public safety, regardless of the opposition from local leaders.

Democrats, communists, traitors. Deal with them accordingly.
We need 1000 more Tom Holmans
Findlay our Government is following our immigration laws. Never thought I would see it in my lifetime.
