In Arizona, Governor Katie Hobbs is facing a criminal investigation after a state senator filed a motion to probe the governor’s involvement in a ‘pay to play’ scandal.
According to a letter sent by State Senator T.J. Shope (R-District 16) addressed to Attorney General Kris Mayes (D), the Arizona governor is accused of using the state Department of Child Services money to increase payback to companies or entities that donated to her campaign.
“I am deeply concerned by recent reports in the media outlining what can only be described as a pay-to-play scheme between Governor Katie Habbs’ Office, the Arizona Department of Child Safety, and political donors,” Sen. Shope raised.
“Elected officials are bound by an oath to uphold the laws of our state and to be prudent stewards of taxpayer money.”

The Republican State Senator expressed alarm at the possibility that this scheme may involve “bribery, fraud, illegal use of state money, and a conflict of interest.”
“I respectfully request your office examine the facts surrounding the Department of Child Safety’s alleged decision to approve a nearly 60% rate increase for Sunshine Residential Homes and determine if conduct by any of the involved parties warrants criminal or civil investigation,” he furthered.
Attorney General Mayes confirmed that his office would launch an investigation into Shope’s appeal.
Sunshine Residential Homes, the institution that benefited from the corrupt governor, will also be investigated.
According to reports, Sunshine donated around $400,000 to Hobbs and the state Democratic Party, of which $100,000 was sent straight to the governor’s inaugural fund in December 2022, a month before Hobbs sat in office.
In exchange for campaign funding, Hobbs increased the daily rate of Sunshine Residential Homes by 60 percent to care for a child, while other childcare institutions rejected their appeals to increase.
At least 16 group home providers were denied contracts from DCS. One of the providers says they would support the probe.
“I do want the truth, and many of the other providers want that too, but we do need a better system. As I said, we’ve got about 11,000 kids in Arizona in foster care right now, so there needs to be a better system,” said L’s House program director Cathy Donnell.
Gov. Katie Hobbs, just like every liberal sh*t, denied any ‘wrongdoing.’
Pagnotta also warned that this is no ‘conservative conspiracy’ to take down Democrats because, in fact, “Arizona’s AG is a Democrat.”
