Former Donald Trump makes it into the Nobel Peace Prize nomination again after Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) put his name forward for securing the Abraham Accords, which he brokered while serving in office.

Trump facilitated the Abraham Accords, signed in September 2020, a treaty that eased the tension between Israel, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.

The treaty resulted in normalized relations among the three countries to ensure peace in the Middle East between Arab countries and Israel. After the Abraham Accords, Morocco and Sudan forged a similar agreement.

Rep. Tenney said in a statement, “Donald Trump was instrumental in facilitating the first new peace agreements in the Middle East in almost 30 years.”

Furthermore, “For decades, bureaucrats, foreign policy “professionals,” and international organizations insisted that additional Middle East peace agreements were impossible without a resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. President Trump proved that to be false. The valiant efforts by President Trump in creating the Abraham Accords were unprecedented and continue to go unrecognized by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, underscoring the need for his nomination today.”

Tenney also hit Biden’s “weak leadership on the international stage is threatening our country’s safety and security.

With this, awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump is more significant.

Tenney’s nomination comes after a drone strike killed three U.S. soldiers while injuring hundreds. The attack was attributed to Iranian-backed Hezbollah rebels.

The lawmaker also cited the 1976 Israeli peace treaty with Egypt and the Oslo Accords, which were both awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize. But the awarding committee failed to acknowledge Trump’s role in facilitating the Abraham Accords.

Furthermore, the Abraham Accord was recognized for strengthening Israeli-Arab ties.

The former president has been nominated on several occasions but was never selected.

Trump was first nominated in 2019 by far-right politician Christian Tybring-Gjedde for his efforts to reconcile North and South Korea.

MP Magnus Jacobsson of Sweden also named him for the Peace Prize for facilitating a treaty between Serbia and Kosovo.

In 2021, Norwegian lawmaker Tybring-Gjedde nominated the GOP leader again for his role in brokering the Abraham Accords.

“It is for his contribution to peace between Israel and the UAE. It is a unique deal,” Christian Tybring-Gjedde told Reuters.

The Norwegian right-wing politician also said, “Indeed, Trump has broken a 39-year-old streak of American Presidents either starting a war or bringing the United States into an international armed conflict. The last president to avoid doing so was Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter.”
