In a closed-door meeting last week, New York Representative Sean Patrick Maloney warned numerous Democrats that they were in trouble in their bids for reelection in the mid-terms, saying that if the mid-terms were held today, House Democrats would lose the majority.
With an 8-seat advantage, Republicans would only need to hold on to all existing seats and flip 5 others.
Maloney is the chairmen of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Pointing to some recent polling done by the DCCC, Democrats are shown to be 6 points behind Republican contenders in battleground state races.
While Maloney believes the way to overcome that deficit is to continue pushing President Biden’s agenda of progressive economics, DCCC Executive Director Tim Persico’s plan was much more telling.
A Democratic strategist told The Hill that the polling showed “that voters are largely turned away by Republican extremism, pointing to the Jan. 6 Capitol attack and continued loyalty to former President Trump.”
“We are not afraid of this data. We’re not trying to hide this.” If [Democrats] use it, we’re going to hold the House. That’s what this data tells us, but we gotta get in action,” Persico told Politico.
So, does this mean that the Democrats plan is to try to convince voters that all Republicans are right-wing extremists?
The doesn’t seem too far-fetched given the Democrats campaign premise for the 2020 push was based on lies like Russian collusion, Ukraine involvement and Trump’s ties to white supremacist.
Maybe that is what it takes when the solutions and agendas you try to force-feed Americans are actually destroying the very nation you are sworn to protect.
