Actress Jeanette McCurdy, a former Nickelodeon child actress, has recently come forward to expose how Hollywood executives force children into horrifying acts with pedophiles to further their careers.

The former actress was candid in her new memoir where she details the toxic relationship with her mother and the exploitation that she experienced when working for Nickelodeon.

McCurdy was the star of Nickelodeon’s “iCarly” and “Sam & Cat”, and said she was repeatedly abused by the elites in the entertainment industry.

McCurdy said, “My whole childhood and adolescence were very exploited. There were cases where people had the best intentions and maybe didn’t know what they were doing. And also cases where they did — they knew exactly what they were doing.”

According to the New York Times, McCurdy wrote in her memoir about uncomfortable moments when she was asked to be “photographed in a bikini during a wardrobe fitting and being encouraged to drink alcohol by an intimidating figure she simply calls the Creator.”

McCurdy said that even when her mother was with her, she never interrupted, but told her this “was the price of show biz success.”

Her mother allegedly told her, “everyone wants what you have.”

McCurdy recounted auditioning for acting roles at the age of 6 and being “shepherded” into the work by her very controlling mother. McCurdy said she suffered from eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and anxiety.

After she starred in “iCarly”, Nickelodeon guaranteed her a spinoff series of her own. However, they walked back on their offer and made Ariana Grande a co-lead on “Sam & Cat.”

McCurdy said she felt undermined by the network and they discouraged her from exploring other career opportunities outside the show. She felt the same rules didn’t apply to Grande.

McCurdy wrote, “What finally undid me was when Ariana came whistle-toning in with excitement because she had spent the previous evening playing charades at Tom Hanks’s house. That was the moment I broke.”

“Sam & Cat” only aired for one season during 2013-2014. After the show’s cancellation, Nickelodeon offered her $300,000 to keep her experience at the network private. She refused the offer.

Nylon reported:

Throughout the book, the now 29-year-old actress reportedly talks about growing up with calorie restrictions, saying she would weigh herself five times a day. McCurdy also claims her mother insisted on “extensive at-home makeovers,” and even made them shower together. Throughout her time on Nickelodeon, the actress says she was forced to share her diaries, emails, and income with her mother as well.

The novel is described as a dark yet comedic take on abuse. The pink and yellow book cover tries to achieve that, with a photo of the McCurdy holding a pink urn that’s filled with confetti.

After stepping away from the limelight, McCurdy began therapy and was able to unpack her tumultuous upbringing. “It was important for me to explore the emotional and psychological abuse I endured during my time as a young performer,” she said. “I feel like I didn’t have the tools, language, or support necessary to speak up for myself back then, so this book is a way for me to not only honor that experience and give voice to my former self, but hopefully to encourage young people to speak up for themselves in environments where they may be conditioned to just ‘play ball’ and ‘be a good sport.’”

Her book will be available for purchase on August 9.
