Ilhan Omar’s Pro-Hamas Daughter Suspended From College For Joining Protest

Ilhan Omar’s pro-Hamas daughter, Isra Hirsi, posted about the recent disciplinary action she received from Barnard College as if it were a badge of honor in a recent post on X.

In a tweet, Hirsi said, “I’m an organizer with CU Apartheid Divest @ColumbiaSJP; in my 3 years at @BarnardCollege, I have never been reprimanded or received any disciplinary warnings.”

“I just received notice that I am 1 of 3 students suspended for standing in solidarity with Palestinians facing a genocide,” she added.

“Those of us in the Gaza Solidarity Encampment will not be intimidated. we will stand resolute until our demands are met. Our demands include divestment from companies complicit in genocide, transparency of @Columbia’s investments, and full amnesty for all students facing repression,” Hirsi further remarked.

Hirsi, 21, led fellow Barnard students in occupying Columbia University, pitching their tents on the campus’ South Lawn.

The self-acclaimed communist daughter of Omar, along with two other students, was suspended on an “interim basis” based on the notices they received from Barnard Dean Leslie Grinage, according to the press statement released by the Columbia University Apartheid Divest.

The interim suspension meant that the college denied the student leaders food, housing, and medical centers. Two of them live in student housing and have been locked out of their homes for their illegal encampment on Columbia University grounds.

The group further remarked that Hirsi and her colleagues were the “eight students to be suspended from Columbia University” for protesting the Hamas-Israel war.

As per Barnard’s email, the basis of their suspension was their “unauthorized encampment on the Columbia University campus” and for not ceasing participation in the encampment despite repeated pleas from Barnard and Columbia University’s administration.

CUAD, Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), and the Jewish Voice for Peace organized the illegal occupation.

According to the Anti-Defamation League, SJP has long been a Hamas supporter.

During the Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the national leadership of the SJP and its chapters explicitly rejoiced and endorsed the massacre of 1,200 people in Israel, most of them civilians, and the kidnapping of 240 more to the Gaza Strip. The group further called on its members to confront and dismantle Zionism on US college campuses. Some of their chapters echoed Hamas’ messaging and promoted anti-Israel views.

SJP chapters also launched provocative statements supporting Hamas’ occupation of Israel and endorsed its violence among civilians.
