Amid a $68 billion deficit, Democrat-led California welcomes more than 700,000 illegal migrants with free healthcare through Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Medi-Cal program. The program will benefit all migrants aged 26 to 49 years old, which will begin on January 1, 2024.
To be able to provide for all illegal immigrants, Newsom needs $2.6 billion yearly. Healthcare experts have raised alarm with the expansion of this program as the state continues to suffer revenue woes and healthcare crises.
Sally Pipes, president and CEO of the Pacific Research Institute, said in an interview with the New York Post, “The expansion was a bad idea when the state’s coffers were flush. Now that California is struggling to make ends meet, using taxpayer money to cover non-citizens is simply irresponsible.”
“Many on Medi-Cal are already having a hard time finding doctors to treat them because of low reimbursement rates these doctors receive from the government,” Pipes added. “If those on Medi-Cal can find a doctor, they are facing very long waits for care.”
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, border agent Simon Hankinson expects Newsom will receive a bailout from the federal government.
“The question is how, and when they’ll get the federal taxpayer to bail them out. New York, Illinois, and Massachusetts want to know.”
California’s budget deficit persistently increases as its population shrinks, and businesses close down due to Newsom’s failed policies.
Since 2020, California has lost almost half a million of its residents.
An article by the Los Angeles Times cited the cost of living, and the housing market as factors why people move out of California.
In a statement, The California State Republican Caucus slams Newsom’s policy which they say “will certainly exacerbate current provider access problems.”
Senator Roger Niello (R), the vice-chair of the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, expressed his apprehension on the healthcare expansion and said “Regardless of what your position is on this, it doesn’t make sense for us to be adding to our deficit.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) called for a “tax revolt” against California’s free healthcare for undocumented immigrants.
“A tax revolt would solve this problem in California,” says Greene.
On December 30, Green emphasized her call to Californians to hold a tax revolt against Newsom’s government.
The lawmaker remarked, “It’s treason. No other way to say it. And now California is going to give illegals free healthcare, but nothing is free, the California taxpayers have to pay for it.
This is stupid they are illegal there for they are criminals they are felons and they will get rewarded . Newsom should be removed.
