Several White House Press Corp members cornered White House Secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday when she failed to explain why President Joe Biden is not taking any questions and holding any press conferences.
On several occasions, Biden has turned his back on reporters who are seen shouting down questions. This first occurred in late August when Biden was on an extended vacation and no one from the administration including Jen Psaki was available to answer press questions at a critical time of U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. A similar lack of transparency is continued as the administration is faced with border crisis and inflation questions.
“The president knows that he was elected not just to get the pandemic under control and put people back to work, but protect our democracy and stand up for what’s right and be transparent,” Psaki told a reporter “Certainly part of that is engaging with all of you. I would note that he answered questions 135 times leading up to September, three times last week.”
As if “Three Times” is an acceptable number from the leader of the free world. Biden rarely takes any questions from Fox News or any publication with opposing views and when that rare incident happens, he flips out or answers something really weird.
“But in this month of September, many of the occasions we’ve had have been fleeting,” the reorder added, pressing Psaki. “When can we expect to have an opportunity to ask the president questions in a formal setting?”
Psaki responded with a vague response that Biden not holding a press conference is not of great concern to Americans. But recent polls show otherwise.
Biden avoiding the press was especially observed this week when he was meeting with the U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and like any other world leader, P.M. Johnson accepted Press Corp’s questions. Biden seemed stumbled and did not answer anything and his handlers shouted down the press soon thereafter which created a very awkward moment
