It has been reported that the U.S. Supreme Court announced it will hear the case of a former Seattle-area football coach who was fired from his job because he refused to stop praying on the field. When the school district learned that Kennedy was praying with the team, they told him that he could pray separately from students. Kennedy declined to change his practice, was put on paid leave, and sued.
Lower courts sided with the school district. Now, the case has made its way to the nation’s highest court.
“No teacher or coach should lose their job for simply expressing their faith while in public,” Kelly Shackelford, president, and CEO of First Liberty, who is representing the case, said in a statement. “By taking this important case, the Supreme Court can protect the right of every American to engage in private religious expression, including praying in public, without fear of punishment,” he added.
“Paul Clement, former U.S. Solicitor General, partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP and First Liberty volunteer attorney, said, ‘We look forward to presenting the Coach’s case, which goes to the heart of the First Amendment, to the Justices,’” the Daily Wire reported. “Joe Kennedy’s case, now six years after the events, has led to renewed optimism by the coach who still desires to return to the football sidelines.”
“Six years away from the football field has been far too long. I am extremely grateful that the Supreme Court is going to hear my case and pray that I will soon be able to be back on the field coaching the game and players I love,” Kennedy said in the statement.
Americans United for Separation of Church and State criticized the decision in a statement. “No child attending public school should have to pray to play school sports. No student should ever be made to feel excluded – whether it’s in the classroom or on the football field – because they don’t share the religious beliefs of their coaches, teachers or fellow students,” Americans United President and CEO Rachel Laser said

I doubt that they were forced to participate. Why would any student feel excluded if they didn’t participate in something they didn’t want to do? Wokeism, foolishness.
I pray that he wins. Our freedom of religion is at stake!!!
AMEN! Satan is alive and well, they are trying to take God out of everything!! We live in very sad and trouble times.
Funny that. I thought we had freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion . . . or worse , freedom to not be offended by the beliefs of others. How come our judges cannot read?
When I was in school we always had morning prayer. The teacher would tell students every morning that if anyone didn’t want to precipitate they could step out. Everyone chose to stay.
This is what’s wrong with today. They are taking God out of everything.
Maybe if some of these people would have raised their children under Gods word there wouldn’t be as many drug addicts, thieves, hatred, and corruption.
I do pray this man gets his job back & yes I am a child of God & proud!
Amen!
I have had to block a man who was aggressively anti- Christian. He was proud to block anything Christian like crosses posted where anyone could see them. I said I do not mind my tax money helping to put up a cross. He said We do! Of course they are 501(c)3 organizations. So us taxpayers support this crap.
I am concerned about the influence of religion and secret societies on our elected officials and their appointees. While our morals come largely from religion, faith based political agendas are a bane on our society. The rejection of scientific facts based on religious faith is harming our citizens and nation.
One of the prime factors that makes the race of Man so successful is that we are socially dependent on each other for success. The Constitution of the United States of America guarantees “freedom of religion”. This includes the assumption that we are each free to choose what religion and principles we cherish. Many of us, myself included, see the Muslim religion is not just a religion but also a form of government. And as such, deem maybe, they should not hold a public office. But I ask you honestly what is the difference between the The Muslims, Jews and Christians. All three religions believe their God to be the one true God and it is their mission is to populate the earth, including conversions, with people of their faith.
What is the truth? (There is exactly One God!) To each of these religions, their truth is their religion. There is no tolerance to believe anything outside of their religious tenets, which become agendas.
Our Constitution guarantees freedom from state sponsored Religion. When elected officials make policy from Religious agendas, it becomes state sponsored Religion. The constitution of the United States does not and cannot accept this condition.
When George Washington signed the Constitution, he and many other signers belonged to secret societies, like the Freemasons, Elks, IOF (Independent Order of Foresters) and others. These institutions demand absolute loyalty!
They signed the Constitution in spite of their pledge to secret societies and gave us this warning: “We are giving you this Country and this Constitution so you can have a strong country and individual freedom – ‘If you can keep it’!”. (not an exact quote) They took a huge personal risk in signing the Constitution in spite of their pledge and likely, George Washington’s heavy debt is a consequence because he fell out of favor with the Freemasons. The Signers knew the forces of the powerful secret societies were a danger to their hard fought prize, “The United States of America”.
The fact is, if who is a Christian now had been born into a Muslim family they would be singing “Praise to Allah”, and vice-a-versa. Religious Faith is one of the most powerful forces on this earth!
If we are to succeed as a nation we need to change the oath of office for all elected officials and their appointees. I suggest adding this to the current pledge:
“When I come to work I will follow the Constitution of the United States of America to keep this Nation strong. I will leave my religion and devotion to my secret society at home while keeping the will of the people in the forefront of my decisions while protecting the sanctity and continuity of the Constitution”.
