JD Vance Says He Hopes Wife Usha Will One Day Embrace Christianity

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Vice President JD Vance has revealed that he hopes his wife, Usha Vance, will one day convert to Christianity, while emphasizing that faith remains a deeply personal decision that must be made freely.

Speaking during a recent interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity while promoting his new book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, Vance reflected on his spiritual journey as a Catholic convert and discussed the role faith plays in his family life. He said he would welcome the possibility of Usha embracing Christianity in the future but stressed that he respects her freedom to make her own religious choices.

Usha Vance, who was raised in the Hindu faith, has been married to the vice president since 2014. The couple celebrated their marriage with a ceremony that incorporated both Christian and Hindu traditions. Together, they are raising their three children in the Catholic faith and are expecting their fourth child.

Although Usha has not expressed plans to convert, Vance noted that she regularly attends church services with the family and has been supportive of their shared commitment to raising their children within the Catholic tradition.

During the interview, Vance credited his wife with strengthening his own spiritual growth, saying her perspective and support have played an important role in his faith journey. He also reiterated that genuine religious belief cannot be forced and must come from personal conviction rather than outside pressure.

The comments echo previous remarks Vance has made about balancing his religious convictions with respect for his wife’s autonomy. His reflections come as faith continues to play a visible role in his public life and political identity, themes that are explored throughout his new book.
