In a surprising turn of events, a recent pollster and column of Kristen Soltis Anderson in the New York Times reveal that former president Donald Trump is now seen as the “return to normalcy” candidate as Joe Biden failed to “put things back in order”.
According to Anderson, Biden was not able to stabilize America, after implementing three years of disorganized policies. Here are some of Biden’s failures:
- Draconian pandemic mandates
- Deadly Afghan withdrawal
- Soaring cost of living
- Growing instability in Ukraine and the Middle East
- Record high invasion on the southern border
Anderson added, “The 2024 election will not be fought along the conventional axis of left and right or even change and more of the same.”
“Voters very much want change; they have made that clear with the abominable ratings they give our leadership in poll after poll.”
She further said that the people are clamoring for someone to put things back in an orderly state, which Biden had failed to deliver.
The columnist said that despite the Democrats weaponizing the judicial system against their rival, Trump is still seen as a top candidate to turn the US back into normalcy.
Anderson presented a Times survey where Trump slammed Biden in five swing states: Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, and Nevada.

According to The Times’s analysis, “Discontent pulsates throughout the Times/Siena poll, with a majority of voters saying Mr. Biden’s policies have personally hurt them. The survey also reveals the extent to which the multiracial and multigenerational coalition that elected Mr. Biden is fraying. Demographic groups that backed Mr. Biden by landslide margins in 2020 are now far more closely contested, as two-thirds of the electorate sees the country moving in the wrong direction.”
Anderson further said in her column, “And unlike 2020, there’s no guarantee most voters will see President Biden as the safer bet between the two men to bring order back to America — in no small part because Mr. Biden was elected to do so and hasn’t delivered.”
The columnist also added, “Whatever advantage Mr. Biden held over Mr. Trump on the issue of who would be more likely to bring about order, stability, and calm, it has surely been erased at this point.”
In her column, Anderson noted that many voters began to look back during the Trump era. According to a Wall Street Journal survey, many American voters believed that Trump’s policies had helped them.
When asked how they feel, two-thirds of respondents in a research by Pew Research Center, said they felt emotions like “angry” and certainly “hopeful.” When they were asked to describe politics today, they used the words “messy”, “chaos”, “divisive” and “corrupt” at the top of the list of their response.
