Liberals railed at Jon Stewart, as he broke his nine-year hiatus last Monday. The 61-year-old host, who stepped away from the show in 2015, opened the “Daily Show” and dubbed its election coverage as “Indecision 2024: Electile Dysfunction.”
Stewart, known for his bluntness, followed his spiel with, “Are you disappointed yet?”
And much to the Democrats’ disappointment, Stewart did not pass out on the opportunity to rail Biden on his latest travesty.
He goes on, “Joe Biden had a big press conference to dispel the notion that he may have lost a step and, politically speaking, lost three or four steps.”
The host also showcased various footage of officials who defend Biden, such as Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democrats, attesting to Biden’s focus, wit, and attention to detail and suggested that they film the president in those instances so the public can see him.
He also told Biden to “fire everyone” after his recent flop on Tiktok, saying that the president looked “older” and called him “chocolate chip cookie guy.”
“This guy couldn’t remember stuff during his deposition,” Stewart referred to Biden. “You understand what that means? He had no ability to recall very basic things under questioning.”
Stewart’s comeback was anticipated by two million viewers according to Nielsen, the same number to have watched The Golden Globes, Grammys, and Super Bowl. However, not everybody was impressed.
One Democrat supporter quipped on X, “Looks like a large number of the people who were over the moon to see the return of Jon Stewart are now totally pissed off at him.”
“Jon Stewart still has it in terms of being funny and entertaining but the political content of this monologue is basically the New York Times op-ed page in TV form,” independent political journalist Aaron Rupar wrote on X.
One even called bull—t on Stewart and said, “How can you say an 81-year-old man can’t run this country when Biden is 81 & running it very well?”
Armand Hamouth alleged, “He may be helping Trump” while listing all the things Biden has “done.”
While an X user was able to put words on everyone’s thoughts saying: “Jon Stewart successfully humiliated the absolute most annoying types of liberals in his first episode back. A massive success.”
Stewart’s return to the Comedy Central program comes after Trevor Noah left in 2022 after hosting the news show for seven years, during which it struggled to be the ratings smash hit it was when Stewart was in the hosting chair between 1999 and 2015.
