Khamenei Declares ‘The Battle Begins’ Against Israel After Trump Demands ‘Unconditional Surrender’

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a chilling warning on Tuesday in a post on X, stating, “In the name of #Haider, the battle begins. Ali returns to #Khaybar with his Zulfiqar.” The message, invoking historical and religious symbolism tied to Islamic battle victories, came just hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump called for Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” amid rapidly escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

Iranian state media suggested that a significant and memorable military strike would begin late Tuesday and carry into Wednesday, describing it as a “surprise” attack that “the world will remember for centuries.” That message coincided with real-time conflict on the ground, as air raid sirens sounded across northern Israel, including the Golan Heights, warning of incoming threats. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported intercepting three Iranian drones entering Israeli airspace.

Shortly thereafter, Iran reportedly launched two separate barrages of missiles targeting Israeli cities. Explosions were heard in Tel Aviv, and Israeli military forces responded with a large-scale retaliatory airstrike campaign. The IDF stated that its fighter jets had struck facilities involved in centrifuge production, missile assembly, and other military infrastructure near Tehran. The IDF emphasized that these targets were directly linked to Iran’s ability to project force and threaten the region.

As the conflict intensified, reports emerged of heavy casualties among Iranian military officers and nuclear scientists, as well as significant damage to Iran’s air defense systems. Israeli officials indicated that the destruction of Iran’s surface-to-air missile sites had temporarily granted Israel air superiority. The IDF also advised civilians in southwestern Tehran to evacuate due to the likelihood of additional strikes.

President Trump, in a post on his platform Truth Social, stated that the United States had achieved air dominance over Iran. He noted that most of Iran’s air-defense capabilities had been neutralized but clarified that the U.S. had not targeted Iran’s leadership directly. “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding… We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump wrote.

The conflict is currently in its sixth day under the name “Operation Rising Lion,” launched by Israel to cripple Iran’s nuclear development and missile launch capabilities. According to military analysts, Iran’s initial missile strikes numbered more than 200, but recent launches have dropped significantly to fewer than 50, suggesting a weakening of their operational capacity.

Khamenei’s declaration and the continued exchange of fire suggest the conflict is far from over. With both sides making bold and escalating statements—and military action continuing in real time—the region remains on edge, and international observers are bracing for what could become a broader and more destructive confrontation.
